Hi I have two Sony cameras, a wee "cheap" HX80, and also an A6000. I find myself using the HX80 more and more because it's so pocketable, and I love its 30x zoom and electronic viewfinder.  Even though the A6000 is smaller than a DSLR I still find it heavy and cumbersome with a couple of lenses along for the ride.  I am also mulling over buying an RX100 as well due to it being the same size in the hand but with the better sensor for when I don't need the zoom. My question is - on the HX80,...

I almost stepped on this little guy this morning, but managed to grab a couple of shots before it sped off. I believe it's a coral snake, which are not uncommon here in Florida, but it's the first one I've seen in the 20 years I've lived here. Total length about 3 feet (1 meter.)  Thanks for looking. Image reduced for web presentation.

1.    I'm currently using a Sony SD HC 1 16GB U1 class 10 card rated at 40MB/sec. It works fine but is slow writing to the card when shooting in continuous drive mode, either Lo or Hi. I get this message for a few seconds when I try to go into Review mode: "Writing to Memory Card, unable to operate." Would I gain any speed by using a faster card in this basic P&S camera, e.g., SDXC or Sandisk Extreme? 2.   I rarely shoot movies with this camera, but if were to do so I assume that the...

I'm heading to France and Morocco next year (he said, optimistically :-D ) and planning to take a P&S camera for record shots of birds and animals. I like my Sony HX80, which is close to the specs of the ZS80/TZ95 (24–720 mm, f/3.3–6.4, etc.) but the menus are poor and the popup EVF isn't very handy. I had a bad experience with a ZS60 which arrived DOA (zoom error messages) and had to return it. The ZS80 has some features I like, especially focus stacking. Comments appreciated. --"A...

I've been reading and watching reviews and trying to pick a camera for a friend. I've looked at enough videos and shots from the cameras that I've gotten to the point where I'm seeing good and bad from both and just need some outside advise. ------- My criteria: $400 max. It needs to be as close to pocketable as possible. Just bigger and in a small case is ok too. A good zoom. (But doesn't have to be the best feature.) Ability to take a good macro shot. (Nothing beyond the normal close ups of...

Lockdowns preclude traveling these days, so I'm mainly shooting around the yard and woods nearby with my tiny HX80, but may upgrade it to the newer HX99 in hopes of better days ahead in 2021. Has anyone upgraded or bought the HX99? I'm looking for user experiences with the HX99, though I'm generally content with the "happy snaps" from the HX80.

Just interested in any specific tweaks (settings) that someone may have found that adds to the quality of SOOC jpegs.  My HX80 is gradually becoming my most used camera due to all the boxes it ticks for my likes (small size, fair telephoto reach, built in viewfinder) compared to everything else I own.  But I'm just not overjoyed with the SOOC jpegs I'm getting from it.  Wife has a Canon 720 that does what I consider better - more to my lliking, but it's bigger, and does not have a viewfinder...

Good day all, I own the a6000 since it’ came out but it’s getting too much of a hassle to take on walks with my two dogs, one of them can’t always be let off the lead because of her hunting instincts. I am not sure between the RX100 6 or 7, I would be using it on nearly a daily base with my dogs, weather permitted and also for taking landscape pictures when abroad, or when we are off hiking with the dogs in Wales and coastal paths around the UK etc . Dogs can run quite fast and mess about so...

Hi, Need some help in locating a spare part to repair my HX80. The screen stops working and the camera repair shop says that it's coz the flex (hoping it's the correct name) connecting the LCD to the Camera is broken. Been looking for a replacement but without success. The camera switches on and is working fine coz I can see it through the View Finder.  Thanks in advance Sri --https://www.facebook.com/Sri.NationalParksofSriLanka/https://www.facebook.com/Sri.TheWaterfallHunter/

I just bought an HX80 and currently have been using my HX20 to video wildlife. I will be using the HX80 just for filming and my question is I am always trying to focus on animals through branches or grass and trying to focus on what is "behind" the branches and grass, not the foreground. I could never get my HX20 to focus on animals behind, so what would settings should I use for the HX80 to focus through branches in front of me to the animal? Any insight would be appreciated.
