Camera has started defaulting to saving images to SD1.  Yes, I checked (three times) that I set the function correctly.  Once I realized it, I copied all the SD2 images to SD1 & then formatted SD2; tried a couple of shots, & they go to SD2. Set the card to SD1 in viewing mode, & next image again to SD2.   I acknowledge that I can live with this, but it is annoying.  I further acknowledge that I expect that I'm doing something dumb, but as you can see, that's where I'm at. Anybody know the...

Obviously the SD1 has the Merrill sensor instead of the Quattro. It's also a DSLR instead of mirrorless. But those two features can't be responsible for a $1300 premium over the SD-Q + 30mm ART combo, can it? Am I missing something significant? I'd appreciate any feedback. I've been tempted to get a Sigma for a while now, and I figured I'd get an APS-C to start with (in hopes that Sigma eventually releases a full-frame). I don't particularly have any preference between Merrill or Quattro -...

I found somewhere what seems a good price for an SD1 + 17-50 f/2.8   - 1200€. Is it still worth a purchase or the SD quattro series is vastly superior and renders the SD1 obsolete ? I formerly owned an SD14, but looking at my images, I found them really showing a greenish hue shift. Perhaps I should rework them within SPP. However, like many I was attracted by the look of fine details. Thanks for your answers and suggestions. John

Anyone have any experience with this: Pixel TW-283 E3 Wireless Remote Shutter Release Cable For Canon Rebel PowerShot Pentax Samsung Sigma Digital Camera The spec says it is usable with several camera makes including the SD1 but needs a different connecting cable for each make. The placement (on Amazon UK) gives no indication where the different cables can be found. it does come with an E3 connector but does not specify which camera that is for. The Sigma remote release only works when fired...

Guy's, I have been a Sigma shooter since my day's with the SD10, I liked my SD15 with 24-70 EX (non macro or OS) combination the best of all but that went into the Shropshire Union canal with me when I fell off the side of a narrowboat back in 2014 and was duly replaced with a SD1 which was great but mine did not autofocus too well with Art glass. I eventually sold my SD1 and all my Sigma glass about a year ago after a dummy spit with the Australian importer of Sigma products who at that time...

Hi everyone, I am looking for the specifications of Foveon X3F files. The only thing I was able to find is a document on an estonian site: http://www.stv.ee/~donq/sigma/d/x3f-raw-format.pdf However it is an old file and, for example, it doesn't describe properly the X3F written by the SD1 (which are version 3.00 while this document only describes 2.xx). While the main structure of the file looks similar between 2 and 3, the image RAW type of the SD1 is not described in this document. I used...

Hi all,  Thinking of getting back into the Sigma world with a SDQ + 30mm 1.4. I used to love using the "blue channel trick" in SPP for SD1 and DP2M files, but I understand that is no longer available. Is the detail in ISO1600 or 3200 B&W shots still quite good? I'm having trouble finding an answer online.

It seems that the Merrill and Quattro based cameras have the native ability to capture a monochrome image in RAW format along with color image data. The SPP version for these sensors has a "monochrome" button that easily changes a color X3F file to mono, or readily converts a full spectrum or IR RAW file with the red cast. It appears that the SD15 does not have the native ability to capture a color X3F file and a monochrome X3F file at the same time. Choosing B&W through the in camera menu is...
