I have a Sigma DG which I use on my Nikon D3100, works as expected however I have tried it with my brother's D3300 and the lens will not focus (motor will not move at all). I can attach it back to my D3100 and works fine. Other lenses also work on the D3300 so it's not the camera either.  I've also tried switching the lens switch to manual focus but the shutter will not release. Pressing the AF-L button is the only way to get the D3300 to shoot. Is there some sort of setting on the...

Hi, I recently purchased a Canon XTi with a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom (I am a poor student starting a business and got a great deal on both) and I am in some dire need of some tips. Yes, I have read the manual and yes I have done some research on both the camera, lens and photography in general. The camera is to be used for photographing jewelry for my business. I was wondering what settings/tips would be appropriate for this set up. MORE INFO: I will be shooting the...

Which among the following 2 lens is better in terms of image sharpness and image quality. Sigma 70-300 F/4-5.6 DG Macro Tamron A17(AF 70-300) F/4-5.6 Di LD MACRO I understand that both these lens are very budget lens and the image sharpness will be nothing more than average. However I would be getting it for free and got to choose among one of them. I shall be using them on Canon 1100D for now, which I will soon upgrade to Canon 70D. So which one should it be?

Hi all, This is my first post on DPReveiw. In preparing a wildlife trip, I'm looking for a reasonable telephoto lens that suits my Nikon D7100 body (DX sized sensor). The sole lens I have, is a portrait zoom (Sigma 17-70mm "C") which also sees landscape use most of the time, but for the next trip I'll need (much) more focal length. Since I try to shoot without tripod when possible, and due to luggage limitations, I'd like to avoid carrying a heavy lens that needs a permanent tripod mount, so...

[Feel free to move the thread if appropriate.] Let's not go into the story of how I came to own these two items yesterday, as it wasn't by choice and was a lengthy, painful and expensive experience. However, once they came into my possession I thought that I would attempt to make the best of a bad situation and try them out. Long story short, I put the extender onto the lens just to play with it, found focus and took a couple of test shots, then unscrewed the extender and tried to use the...

Does the lens above have manual aperture? I mean the little lever (or something like that) that you can push to adjust the aperture. I have one but I am not really sure how to find out, because I don't seem to see it anywhere. So I am asking you, professionals, I would like to buy extension tube for macro photography but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for electrical models.
