I was curious if any Bigma ( Sigma 50-500mm ) owners have had their mounts changed from the old 4/3 to the m4/3 mount? If so, I was curious as to your opinion and results. My Bigma has been semi retired since I got the smaller, lighter PL 100-400 lens, but I was curious if the Bigma would be improved by updating the mount? I had some very good results with the Bigma in the past using an adapter. In good light, on a tripod, I had got some very sharp images. Thanks in advance, s. --'Don't...
I have the beercan, and it's one of my favourite lenses. I also have the Bigma, and (confirming dyxum reviews I should have read before buying it), it doesn't focus fast enough on my A77ii. I can get a second-hand 200mm for about €500, while I would have to pay getting on for €2000 for the 300mm. Leaving aside the extra reach - and for full disclosure, I have a license for Topiz AI Gigapixel -, is the 300mm really worth 4 times the money? It would be the last lens I could bring myself to...
I already own the Bigma but I’m considering selling it in order to acquire the Sony sal70400G2. While a used Sal70400G2 is more costly than the Bigma I am seeking advice from those who may have used both. If I intend to mostly shoot wildlife which lens is “better” given the higher cost of the Sony and the inherent lesser range when compared to the Bigma.
Just received an a7iii, my first FF digital camera, very impressive. Love it so far. Was hoping I could use my Sigma 50-500mm DG OS HSM lens with this camera, but it will not hold focus. I have tried all possible settings with no luck. Just keeps hunting in AF. This lens auto focuses perfectly with my a77ii even with a 1.4x teleconverter! My 24-70mmm and 105mm macro Sigma A-mount lenses also auto focus very nicely and quickly with the a7iii. Any advice or possible workarounds? --...."Sony,...
In a couple of weeks I'll be taking a trip to the Spotsylvania area of Virginia and I'm a bit hung up on which lenses to take with me. I'll be using my K-3II and I have a choice of lenses: Sigma 10-20/3.5 Pentax DA* 16-50/2.8 (if it's delivered on time) Pentax DA* 50-135/2.8 Sigma 50-500mm OS Pentax 35mm Limited Pentax DA* 55/1.4 I also have a Sigma 180mm macro but I don't anticipate using it. I'm not sure what I might encounter so I'm not sure which lenses I should take. I'm considering...
Hi, I'm traveling to the Atacama desert and Patagonia in July and there is going to be a full solar eclipse whilst I'm there. I'm now looking for some advice on lenses to take with my Nikon D850. The longest lens I currently have is the 70-200mm or the 200mm. I initially was going to take my Nikon 70-200 with a x1.7 teleconverter, The got sidetracked by the Nikon 200-500 with a x1.4 teleconverter, which I think is going to be too heavy to carry around for over a month. Now I'm looking at...
I wanted a budget telephoto and so bought a Sigma 50-500 model on ebay (the older model without image stabilization). When I put it on my Nikon d5500 it won't autofocus or manual focus. The focussing dial moves using the lens motor but cannot get the lens to focus in on anything, even things 20 metres away. If I try to manual focus the focus ring just moves round and round without stopping In either direction and the focussing scale at the top of the lens is stuck on infinity however much I...
Just curious if there are any OMD EM1 and Mark II shooters who use the Bigma? (Sigma 50-500mm lens). Curious what settings you might use for wildlife. Your thoughts and opinions on the combination? Thanks in advance, s. --'Don't mistake lack of talent for genius'-Type O Negative
