Hello folks, Looking for help and some confirmation of my findings. I have the Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG Macro lens using it on a Nikon D850. Everything works fine except Auto-Ficus in Live View. I tried using the Sigma USB Dock to upgrade the firmware but the lens is not recognized/listed. I suspect I am out of luck but figured let me ask the experts :D Tried E-mailing Sigma but so far, no joy. Any way to fix? Thank you. --Mannyhttp://www.mannyphoto.com/http://www.thrustimages.com/FCAS Member...

Hi. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate subcategory for this question. Inspired by this weeks edition of Amateur Photography magazine and its array of articles on second-hand gear, I was impulsed to purchase a Sigma 28mm f2.8 Mini Wide II macro lens for not much money on a famous internet auction site. I don't know why, but something made me think it was a M42 lens or something (I am new to photography, and very new to third party lens). However, on closer inspection, the seller did...

Hi folks, I'm looking for a new prime lens for my Canon EOS 70D with the following three characteristics: Standard 50mm-equivalent focal length (that is to say, something in the range 28mm - 35mm) Large aperture (f/2 and above, though I may consider f/2.8 if necessary) Low budget ($600 max) I'm not a professional and my typical shooting situations are very generic: Indoor, low-light portraits / footage Outdoor natural landscapes To these, I would like to add some very rudimentary...

So I picked up a used lens off of eBay that wasn't as tight as my 50mm. I ended up with a Sigma 28mm 1.8 but it keeps giving me Error 01. I cleaned the contacts with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol but it still does not work. The lens works fine and will take pictures + autofocus. The pictures save, but the error pops right up and don't let me do anything. However, the pictures save in movie mode and it doesn't give me the error—but I'd rather use the eyepiece. I've read online that some...

I have a Sony A-300, which uses open-loop phase detection for autofocus, and which does so quite well for all but one of my lenses: a Sigma 28mm f/1.8 "Macro," which a majority of the time  (but not always) front-focuses pretty badly.  (Apparently this lens is notorious for this sort of problem.) I've found plenty of threads about detecting and (with some cameras) correcting front/back-focus with specific lenses, but how can open-loop autofocus fail with just one lens? If the lens is capable...
