Hi all! I'm currently using a Canon T5i with its 18-55m IS STM kit lens. I also have a Canon 50-250mm IS STM. Both have been serving me well for the past 2 years. Have been reading up on Sigma lenses. While I like the constant aperture of f2.8 on Sigma 17-50mm, I also like how Sigma 17-70mm has a longer focal length. Many reviews have classified both as an upgrade for the kit lens. There isn't much issue about my 18-55mm. Except that sometimes I have to switch to a longer zoom lens for...
Hi, I have a Nikon d5300 (DX - crop format) and until now was mainly using it with Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC (crop format) Since i mainly use the smaller f numbers (lens wide open), I used that 17-70 also mainly between f2.8 and f4. Lastly i wanted to try other lenses (better ones maybe) and bought a Sigma 24-105mm F4,0, which is intended for a full frame camera. This lens is twice as expensive as the other one (17-70). So i also expected to have a better usage of it, better range, maybe...
Hello, I currently own a D5200 and the kit lens (18-55 VR II). I was thinking about getting a better lens for travel, wallk around and casual portraits. I would like to know whether do you guys recommend one of the options below: Sigma 17-50mm F/1.8 OS Sigma 17-70mm F/2.8-4 OS "Contemporary" Would any of these two be an improvement compared with the kit lens? If not, which lenses would you guys suggest? I have read so many threads here, still not decided.
Im looking for a budget update for my kit lens with decent wide. more than my 35mm dx. I have decided to purchase Sigma 17-50 2.8 lens. or may be the sigma 17-70. I have heard that there are compatibility issues , firmware, and AF assist light block with the Sigma 17-50 2.8 on a Nikon D3300. Please advice me before purchase
Hi everyone, I am shooting with a D5100, using a Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 and a Nikon 35/1.8. I'm newly based in Switzerland and travelling as much as possible with my camera. My photos are basically travel, city/street photos and landscapes. I find I can't always get close enough to somethings to shoot what I want (especially on mountain hikes) and would like your input on my next lens. New or used I'd like to keep under $600 max (USD). I've looked at the Sigma 17-70/2.8 which would be great for...

I'm considering the Sigma Contemporary 17-70 as an upgrade/alternative/change from the Nikon kit lens and have a couple of doubts/questions. As I have fully functioning feet I assume the difference between the wide end is almost negligible, yes? Any opinions as to how much I'd notice the difference between the 55mm and the 70mm? Obviously it's faster than the kit lens, but is it worth the expenditure? I can buy it new for £285 (postage included) and as I have the 150-600C I may be tempted...

Dear all, A couple days ago I posted a similar thread in the Nature and Wildlife Photograpy forum, but so far it had no reaction. Maybe because my question was a fit in two forums? Here's a summary of the question - I refer to the other thread for all the details to avoid content duplication: In preparing a wildlife trip, I'm looking for a reasonable telephoto lens that suits my Nikon D7100 body (DX sized sensor). The sole lens I have, is a portrait zoom (Sigma 17-70mm "C") which also sees...
First off, I should say that I don't actually own a kit lens - I purchased my D5100 body only. Sometimes I wish I had a normal zoom so I don't have to carry all my lenses around. I asked a similar question in the past and found some possibilities, but I can't decide on anything: -Nikon 16-85mm -Sigma 17-70mm C -Sigma 17-50mm Any other suggestions are welcome. I could also go the cheap route and get a Nikon 18-105. Overall, I just want a standard range lens that handles well and has better...
Hello everyone! Well i was planning to buy the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 for it has a constant 2.8 aperture and is a sharpe lens till i found a good deal on a barely used 17-70 for around 265$ Now i was thinking this lens is worst at 17mm and f/2.8 so i would consider it more a (24-70mm f/4) Lens, and i was thinking should i get this lens and is it worth it and is it a real upgrade for the kit lens, or should i wait for the 17-50!!!!
