I want to shoot a HS football game and it will be my first time doing so. The varsity game will be at night, but looking at other photos, it seems like there's decent light for a HS field. I'll be using a D500 with a Sigma 120-300/2.8 on a monopod. I have a 1.4xTC, but guessing the loss of a stop and AF hit in darker conditions may not be worth it. I can also bring a 24-70/2.8 on a D750. As far as positioning, what is optimal and what I can I expect to have access to? The games get coverage...

I'm thinking of renting the Sigma 120-300 Sport lens and a Canon 5D3, here to supplement my 7D2 and 100-400L I for an airshow. I was wondering somethings for this lens combo: 1) Has anyone used it and what did you think of the combo? 2) Is the 120-300 + 5D3 a good combo for a Night airshow or would something else(in similar or lower price range) be better or just as adequate? 3) Is a 1.4 or 2x Teleconverter a good additional rental item, to increase range for the day airshow? 4) Any other...

I am a sports photographer at my local University (Utah Valley University). sports are super fun to take photos of, however I personally use my own gear (nikon d7100). I have noticed the marketing team using the all famous 100-400l cannon lens, while i use my 70-200mm sigma lens. of course I feel left out of the those long shots. then again I am not made out of money (I wish i was...) with that said i also shoot...

In my first attempt to cover my need for ~500-600mm reach for motorsports & aviation i went for the highly praised 120-300 OS HSM (2012 model) + the Sigmas TCs. After almost a year of endless tests , discontentment and inspection and maintenance travels even to Sigma Japan with actually minimal final field use (just couple of pics) because of focus & tracking issues, i am coming to the conclusion that this combination DOESN'T WORK for action / sports photography. The AF performance of this...
