The 14-24 f/2.8 is around 8 years old and there are newer lenses around, namely the Tamron 15-30 and Sigma 12-24 Art. So does the Nikon 14-24 still cut it alongside the competition? Using a D800 series FX body? The Sigma is still largely untested, though it's main marketing point seems to be no distortion, rather than absolute sharpness. And of course Nikon's own 14-24 that's now retailing at somewhere between £1,369 and £1,620. So which do you go for, assuming that at the wide end you aren't too fussed whether it's 12mm, 14mm or 15mm? And assuming that at a push you could somehow scrape together the price? Is the Sigma really likely to have some magic over the other two excellent lenses, to justify it's price point? I know nobody knows for sure ...yet, but any guesses? --David
