So I started with a dp0, then bought a DP3M and now...I'm looking at a DP2S. The F13 has always been my favourite Foveon sensor, however I'm interested in converting it to Full Spectrum. Is this doable as a DIY project and if so, can anybody link to a good guide? I have looked but cannot find ant how-tos so any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. --https://www.flickr.com/photos/mac_arthur/
I have four Sigma cameras and their LCD's (quoted from the manuals) are: SD10 1.8" 130,000 dots. SD14 2.5" 150,000 px. DP2s 2.5" 230,000 px. DP2M 3" 920,000 px. Can someone please resolve the above numbers to some meaningful common metric? I ask because some LCDs are expressed in dots meaning sub-pixels just like your TV. Others are "field-sequential", whatever TF that means. Others might even tell the truth, like my NEC monitor with it's 0.265mm group of 3 sub-pixels which comprise one real...
I use RawDigger a lot to see raw histograms in order to check exposure, noise, etc. I notice that each model that I have, or have had, saturates at wildly different levels: SD10 at roughly 10,000 but with outliers up to even 20,000. SD14 at about 6,900 but with outliers up to maybe 10,000. DP2s at about 2,300 but with no outliers. SD1M at about 4,080 but with no outliers. All these numbers are derived from 12-bit ADCs, so the Merrill is the only one that makes any sense! Quattros come with...
After having enjoyed my DP2S, I craved for more resolution but had had a bad experience with DP2 Merrill, so I am put off purchasing anything newer. My issues mainly evolved around two topics - 1. SPP quirks with colorspace settings and color transforms. 2. Seeming lack of IR filtering on DP2 Merill. Thus the question - do you notice the same? Is DP2M missing an IR filter? I mean all people shot in shadow light show incredible and unwanted skin [sub-]structure details (pores, veins, skin...
I have a dp2s, and was wondering what version of Sigma photo pro is best to use for dp1s/dp2s image processing. I have recently updated version 4 to version 6, but 6 seems to crash frequently. A few questions 1) do the more recent versions of photo pro add any features or improve usability, or do most of the changes in the recent versions have to do with processing the Merrill and Quattro files? 2) Given I will only be processing dp2s files, any insight on what version of sigma photo pro...
hello forum members! am intending to purchase a new higher capacity SD card for my sigma DP2S and am having some doubts regarding the SD card speed ratings that are compatible. would like to know the fastest SD card speed rating that works with sigma DP2S. fyi, i have shortlisted a sony SDHC, Class 10, UHS-1 card. the printed specs. on the card also mention a 40Mb/s speed...which i think should accommodate the X3F file writes comfortably in the DP2S?? also, there is another model from sony...
I heard that you can shoot IR with the SD1 by removing a protective filter on the camera (without sending it to a shop) If that is true, does this apply to other Sigma cameras like the DP2s? My question reveals my ignorance about Sigma Cams. but I am curious to know if this is true.
For example: DP2 vs. DP2s? All my Sigma DSLR's are compatible with all my various converters. Therefore, my current philosophy does not include SD15, Merrill, Quattro. I am aware that the DPnX models have an AFE similar if not the same as SD15. So, not interested in those. Thinking of trading or selling the SD9 for a DP1s or DP2s model but first I need to know that, for example, FastStone Viewer will open a DP1s or DP2s file without color cast, etc. OT, but any comments about DP1s vs. DP2s...
I need an external power source for my DP2s for doing time lapse videos. I would like to power the camera from a larger external battery. The specs for the AC Adapter SAC-3 adapter say that it provides 4.2 volts. This is not a convenient voltage since 4 nicad cells produce 4.8 volts and a single lithium cells is only 3 volts. Does anyone know what the safe upper voltage limit might be for the camera?
