I bought this lens 3 times - the first copy was extremely sharp from nearly wide open, even on my A7rii, but unfortunately the mode button was defect, so I sent it back. The second copy was good, but not as sharp as the first one. I tried it out, but sent it back, too and that was that for the time being. I am delighted with this object which replaces the Tamron 35 f2.8, it is not better at the sharp level but not my good. On the other hand, it has a usable AF, quite fast for this type of focal length. Very good for portraits ... good from f1.8

I've been playing with two copies of the Samyang / Rokinon 35 1.8 with latest firmware for about 2 weeks now. Paired my a Sony A7C. At <$300 during Prime Day, and $350~ regular, this lens presents a good value considering its aperture and size. I very much appreciate its minimal weight and size. I bought this lens as an intermittent solution, I simply needed a 35mm for a while, and I didn't want to shell out a huge pile of cash. Add to that, I was pressed for time to get one. I have owned the lens for about four months and used it primarily for everyday shooting. Overall handling is good, build quality is obviously not the best I've seen.
