The Galaxy S9+, like its smaller S9 sibling, offers a nearly bezel-less screen and an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. The S9+ offers a 6.2" display and a dual camera module: a 26mm equiv. 12MP chip with optical stabilization alongside another 12MP with a 52mm equiv. F2.4. The wider rear camera is equipped with F1.5 and F2.4 apertures, which automatically switch based on the light available. The S9 and S9+ offer super-slow motion video recording at 960 fps, device unlocking via facial recognition and a quirky AR Emoji feature that emoji-fies the user's likeness.

The Galaxy S9+ is a responsive and well-built flagship smartphone that has some serious photographic chops. The wide-angle lens is great, the video quality is impressive and the screen is among the best we've ever seen. Unfortunately, subpar performance from the telephoto lens, a disappointing portrait mode and blurry low-light results hold it back from being a truly standout mobile photographic experience.
Good for: High quality video capture, general photography in good lighting conditions, playback of stills and video on the HDR-capable and color-accurate screen.
Not so good for: Portrait and low light photography, photography of fast-moving subjects like children.
