Samsung Galaxy S4
The Galaxy S4 has a very similar design to its predecessor, the S3, but from a specification point of view this new flagship device is taking a huge step forward. The new model comes with a large 5-inch 1080p Full-HD Super-AMOLED screen with a pixel-density of 441ppi. Android 4.1 is powered by a new 1.6 GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor (quad-core in some regions including the US) and 2GB RAM. The camera module features a 13MP backside-illuminated CMOS sensor and a fast F2.0 lens. However, from a hardware point of view the most exciting news is a range of new sensors including a barometer, temperature and humidity sensors. There is also an IR transmitter to use the device as a remote control for most types of AV-equipment.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features one of the best smartphone cameras we have seen so far. It combines very decent image quality with a simple but customizable camera app and a multitude of innovative features and modes. An optical image stabilization system would have been the icing on the cake, but it seems Samsung will make us wait at least another device generation for that. The Galaxy S4 is an easy recommendation for Android users on the lookout for a device with strong imaging capabilities.
