Hell All, I need to make some photos of portrait enlargements about 20x30 (50x75cm) for my daughters. I have used my cameras and lenses as follows for a periods that make good IQ for portrait but without any enlargements: 1-Nikon D5000 with 55-200mm VR 2- Pentax K-x & K50 with 55-300mm, Takumar 55mm 1.8 and Pancolar 50mm 1.8 3-Sony A65 with 55-200mm SAM Do i need to buy another camera that im thinking (Nikon D5500 with 85mm 1.8G) to make sharp enlargements 20x30 or it may be possible with my...
Few months ago I tried to test the focus of a new lens in home. I saw few clips in youtube an tried. After I share the results images few people told me that that was not the way to test a lens. Now I have another new lens (Sigma 35 mm f 1.4) and want to ask - how to test a new lens in home? I photo sites I saw a special graphic for this, but from where to get it and how is the proper way to use it? About my case. Last night I tried few shots with the Sigma and on most of the pictures the...

Hi all! While I am not exactly a newbie with Pentax (got my K-x when they were new), I just today got my first lens hood, as my 18-135 lens was delivered. The lens has the hood installed 'backwards' which I assume is to save space when it is not needed. Only one questions remains. How do I get the lens hood apart from the lens so I can turn it around and put back on?
This is an update to a previous thread I started:Repair/adjusting the AF in my K-3 (United States) I'm starting a new thread because it also poses a new question. I was at firmware 1.21, so the first thing I did was install the latest firmware, 1.30. Then I took my three fastest lens (Pentax F50 f/1.7, Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, and Tamron), and did some informal testing on the AF. For the 50mm and the 28-75mm, I had to use much closer targets than what I used for the 70-200. The bottom line: I...

I'want to to buy an old (in technology years) Pentax DSLR to use my old M42 50mm Super Takumar (it's from a Spotmatic, the very first camera I ever had). I only need one dial to control the shutter speed, as I'll control the aperture right from the lens. I was thinking something along the lines of the "old cheap reliable workhorse", maybe a Kr or Kx. Is there any limitation regardless metering, or something? I already have a high end Pentax, but I want the "new-old one" to be attached to the...

as I downsize my photography equipment -- trying to make smart choices -- while using a compact digital camera almost exclusively -- would like to experiment with a DSLR with hope that I might be able to use some of my existing film camera lens -- while my Nikon lens seem to be a non-issue -- would seem that my Pentax lens might have viability -- generally my question is whether all Pentax models can use Pentax lens or if there are certain models that cannot use them -- currently most of my...
I recently got this re-branded 12-24mm f/4 lens and I have an issue with it. This lens is intended for Samsung cameras but I understood that it is fully compatible with Pentax bodies. I am using it on a K-x body. So, the front element of the lens can move inward/outward a millimeter or so, and that messes up the focus. If the lens is pulled towards the body, then infinity becomes less than 2m and when the lens is pulled away from the body, it function correctly. The autofocus is not reliable...
Hello All I used D5000 with 55-200mm VR for sharp portrait and also i have used other cameras such as Pentax k-x and K50 with 55-300mm that gave sharp images but before 2 years , i found Sony a65 with SAM 55-200mm gave better IQ. Now im interesting in different Nikon cameras with 85mm 1.8G for sharp portraits. I found in some reviews that Nikon D5300 gave excellent IQ and better than D7100. i also wrote that D7200 and D7100 have better focusing system than D5300. I like D5300 for the...
