Hello, I am thinking of buying a K1 but I also think that maybe I should wait for the new APSC because I have excellent APSC lenses. My question is this: If I put APSC lenses on K1and use it in crop mode, is the noise performance better than it would be on a K5? --kriztian

In both my Pentax cameras I have D-L90 batteries and 1 charger says D-BC90 and the other says D-BC90P and has 4 contacts instead of 3 and the batteries only have 3. I think it came with my K5. What is the 4th contact for ?

Warning: A long hello and introduction to myself and apologies for the rambling nature of this post. I’ve been reading DPReview regularly since 2003 and have enjoyed and appreciated the very many great forum topics and contributions by Pentax Users from across the globe. I’ve been particularly impressed by the civility of the vast majority of the comments and feedback to fellow users. Also the depth of knowledge and experience is humbling at times. I’ve noticed that a few members have left or...

Hi all, I am a (sadly semi) professional photographer. I do a few weddings each year as well as real estate, portraits, food and really anything else that anyone will pay me to shoot (I live in a small town and everyone's uncle Dave has a decent camera and think they can shoot a wedding no problem).  I shoot with a K3 and a K3-ii, one on each hip for weddings and either one for everything else and I love them dearly. I have battery grips for both and a full range of APSc lenses (10-17 zoom,...

Hello everyone. I've got a K-3 II, and I use it with the grip... but as I am willing to sell the camera and grip, I realized I misplaced the rubber that goes under the camera, where you connect the grip.  I've looked on ebay, amazon, and didn't find any replacement... does anyone know where to buy one?  Thanks a lot!  --Alan SchamberProgress is not possible without deviation from the norm - Frank Zappa

Stunned by what seems to me the lack of sharpness and muddy, blah colors of my new A63000 - w. 16 - 50mm kit lens. This might be too amateurish a question for this forum. The photos (jpegs) seem to me to be barely any better than my friends get with their smart phones. I've photographed at dog parks for about 10 years, not too too seriously but every day - 200 - 300 snaps. I use FastStone to edit. Mostly, I've used a DSLR - Pentax; but I've had small point & shoots (mostly Canons) that I was...

Well, I have checked around a little, here in China the prices are like: K-5: $230 K-5ii: $310 K-5iiS: $340-$380 K-3: $460 K-3ii: $550 Give or take a little. As even the K-5 has focus adjustment, it would make a nice second system to my Sonies that can be banged around or more comfortably be taken to places where theft is an issue. As such places are often hot and humid, the WR comes in handy. At less than 700g for the K-5 and 800g for the K-3 they're in the same league as the a77ii. For me...

I have a K-5 and I would like any advise / suggestion how to use this feature beneficially. The feature "Shutter release button off (Live View Only)" is described in the official K-5 manual page 286 at the bottom.

Hi, I have a Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM lens which just stopped working correctly.  The lens was mounted on a Pentax K1 but I don't think that's relevant really.  It has been working fine after having the mount changed/upgraded for the K1 by Sigma Imaging UK but this week on a shoot my first pictures were hugely overexposed.  I found out the problem was the lens not stopping down from F2.8 to the aperture set to take the picture.  The problem is the lens not the camera as other lenses...

I have been using a K1 for about 6 months but I am a more than a little unimpressed by the amount of noise on my raw files compared with my old K5. I could easily go to ISO3200 on the K5 before being unduly bothered by noise (when viewed at 100%) but now I find the K1 raw images to be noisy above ISO 800 (when viewed at 100%) and really noisy at 3200. I was persuaded to go for the K1 for FF and expected to get better low light performance and low noise as part of the deal. The noise seems to...
