Hello Everyone, I'm receiving my dad's K5 and am new to the Pentax world. I previously had a Sony A700 and A200. I am in need of a good general purpose lens and would like to know everyone's suggestions. I currently have a stock 18-55mm kit lens, and an old 50mm manual focus prime lens. I do a lot of rail fanning and landscape photography. Just trying to get something that would handle them both adequately until I can purchase a really nice lens. My price limit atm is 250. Thanks in...

I noticed that after switching to raw format, the names of the dirs on the sd card are prefixed with a series of numbers beginning with100_ as shown below. The problem with this is that it sort of messes the sequence while importing in SIlky pix as it gets sorted by name and not by date. Also, very difficult to go to the date you want. Wondering if there is a setting to change this .. to go by date. Thanks! ----Avi
I am learning my new to me K5. With the camera switched on I am in SEL mode. How can I see in the viewfinder the selected focus point without pushing any button? I do not know where the camera is going to focus before half pressing the shutter release button.
I've been using Capture One Pro (v.7 still) for my K5, but with the K1, the PEF files are not supported. Neither is pixel-shift. So I'm using DCU 5 but I'm considering Silkypix Developer Studio 7 (Pro and non-Pro). Does anyone have experience with these? Compared to Capture-One? Compared to DCU5? DCU is sloooow compared to C1, even on my PC with solid-state hard drives and 16 Gigs or RAM. How is Silkypix? I really like Capture One, both the way it works and also the IQ. All except for the...
Hello, It is a couple of days that I have received my near mint K5 with the kit lens 18-55 WR. Looking in the viewfinder I always see a dot pattern, something that resembles high ISO noise. It is most obvious when I point to the blue sky. Even if I take the lens out this pattern stays, it seems embedded to the viewfinder. Is this normal? Up to now I used to use various Nikon and Sony DSLRs both pentamirror and pentaprism with clear viewfinders. Is this special to Pentax DSLRs? Is my K5 faulty?
I'm about to the order the K-1, I don't have any FF glass so will also be ordering a lens. As with the K-5 eventually I'll hope to end up with a few primes and a couple of zooms, mostly in the wide to short tele range. I've been searching for any DNG samples from the 28-105 as it seems to have good corner sharpness (better than the 24-70mm?), but as of yet I haven't turned up any good DNGs, has anyone else found any? / The best (non-DNG) has been this OOC jpeg from the www.ephotozine.com...
