I would like to switch from Pentax camera systems to Nikon. My major problem with Pentax is its focusing system, I own the K-30, K-50, K-01, K-5II and K-3, all give me a 50% hit or miss on the focus in bright or low light situations and drives me nuts. I don't want to invest a ton off money on my first Nikon so was looking at possibly a good used D610. I am a hobbyist and mostly take pictures at the Zoo's, air museum's and my favorite granddaughter, Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Still... learning the K-1's UI... and settings... coming from K20D and K-01. Q: The LV button switches the screen on and off. 1 user action. Is there a way to do the same for the info-settings screen? I mean, with one action on or off? For now i have to press info twice and then use 'the arrow keys' and select the 'off' or 'on' choice and press ok. (1st or 3rd from the left) Thx in advance. ;-) rgrds. Henk (K-1&01, K20D&DBG-2, GF2+14042X & LBA).

Hi, there's a possibility that I'll have to shoot a short videoclip for a friend of mine, nothing huge, but still I'd like to do that as best as I can, at the very least as a learning experience. My problem is as follows: I'd like to mix three different cameras, and as far as I gathered my friend would like a cinematic look (thus 24fps), but they apparently don't mix all that well... Target is YouTube... can YouTube handle 24fps well, BTW? I've only found mixed info about that... GoPro clone...

Could you tell me if there is a reason to deactivate dust removal at startup or shutdown for IR converted Pentax cameras ? I finally found a converted K-01 and tried a few shots and was pleasantly surprised, but I also noticed lots of dust specks on some images ! I can't find it again but I think I' ve read somewhere that on converted infrared cameras it was recommended to shut off dust removal shaking at startup and shutdown ... Maybe it's just a mistake : I'll just wait some time for your...

A few years ago, I went in local MediaMarkt and saw 75% discount on these two cameras. (I then bought a Q immediately, for measurbation purposes.) I read similar discounts happened in other places, so I suspect that some retailers got negative profit (i.e. loss) from dealing with K-01 and Qs. I have newer worked in sales, I would like to hear guesses from DP members.
Hello, Some time ago I bought the K-01 and gave it later to my father. He mentioned he would like to have a telephoto lens, and after some research I think I'm going to get him the Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro. He doesn't shoot a lot and it's purely amatuer, so I'm not looking for anything too fancy, and price plays here a big role. That's why considering the features of this lens (long reach, some kind of macro) I think it might be a decent choice. I wanted to ask, though, if...
