My Panasonic GH1 and GH2 are both noticeably noisier on stills than my Canon 650D, to the extent that I only use them for video now. (see 100% crops picture below, with some auto-levels to enhance the noise) It's mostly colour noise (blobs or red and green) but there are nasty textures too. My test shots were at ISO 160 at highest quality JPEG (the noise is the same in RAW) The GH2 is hacked for long-shooting video, but that shouldn't have an effect on the stills quality should it? Any...

I am having a problem with my video files coming from the Lumix GM1 and also the GH1 i owned before. I am recording with AVCHD 50i, but they are importing as 25p files into Premiere, also video properties show them as 25p. When imported into Premiere the image looks very aliased, also encoding the final video as 25p makes the movement much more jaggy than the original files. I never managed to overcome this problem. When watching my original MTS files, they look fine, but as soon as I import...

Has anyone else had this message come up on their Panasonic GH1 ? The card is still readable by the camera, iPad or PC or Mac, but otherwise like it says, it's locked. In the past the problem has been intermittent but the current card seems to be going the way of the previous one towards being permanently locked so far as the camera is concerned.  Any ideas ?

Since Sony announced the upcoming 70-200 2.8, I decided it's time to upgrade from my GH1 to a full frame mirrorless. I shoot when I travel, focusing on portraits, but I also visit many temples, ruins, etc. I thought I might make my travel Sony kit with the 16-35 (been missing a wide angle which I currently don't have), the 55 1.8, and the 70-200 2.8 for a 7 week trip to SEAsia in June. Alas, it doesn't look like the 70-200 will be out anytime soon. B&H estimated it would be at least a few...

I have a GH1,and I have overexposure that saturates especially the greens. This causes pictures taken in forests to show whitish/greyish leaves. Yes there is some green but the photos do not look natural. Further,  in medium contrast compositions, the whites are blown out, so skies tend to look whiter than in reality. I work mostly in P mode. I have tried changing WB and have achieved some results - although I don't want to spend so much time messing with the WB before each shot. further,...

Hello all. I've had my eye on the EM1 for a while now and decided to rent one from LensRentals this weekend as there's nowhere in Montana I'm able to try one. So far I'm loving it compared to my old GH1 but there's one glaring issue I cant figure out. I'm looking at the LCD or through the viewfinder and nothing is sharp. Just a soft view of what I'm framing with some razor sharp menu info overlaid.  The camera confirms focus lock then snaps a picture, I hit review to pull up the image and WOW...

I decided to replace my GH1 with an SLR (referred realistic!) Now the choice is either 70d or the 760D.For my usage, most of 760D: lighter (200g anything apart) and dial 3 with direct access to scene modes, the video to mp4, for the least against more pixel so very heavy loading pictures on pcOn the same principle for the 70d, the more robust (semi-tropical conditions) and better for video? (To you to confirm me please ...) - the least: no direct access to scene modes and heavier formats and...

Hi guys, so I was looking through a camera classifieds website from my country and saw that people sometimes trade their same system camera bodies for other camera bodies. Now I was just wondering if it was possible for me to maybe trade my EPL3 with a GH1/2 or G1/2? and which would be the one that would have the highest successful chance of me being able to get a successful trade. Also another thing, would it be worth it? Thanks in advance. --Photography enthusiast.

I am in the market for a camera, I am a college student so my budget is pretty tight.  I mainly want something that will be good for filming my bow hunting next fall. I have been searching around for sort of a low budget set-up, and I really liked the way the hacked Gh1 brought out the color and detail in animals.  The price point for used Gh1s is very good (around $200 for the body) so that isn't an issue.  However, buying a 5 year old camera makes me a little nervous when there are newer...

Please excuse this amateurish video question:  Since I have a Panasonic G6, is there any reason to undertake a video hack of my old GH1? Anything to gain, or should I just consign my GH1 to a bygone era?  Thanks.  /Ted
