I've just purchased the G2 from buydig.com for $1099. That price for a new lens with a 1 year warranty was lower than the best price I could find for the same lens used. So, here's my question: Just how good is the IQ when the G2 is paired with its complementary 1.4 tele-converter? I realize its very good, but is it necessarily better than simply enlarging the (approximately) center two thirds of the image of the G2 without the TC? For me me that question isn't just rhetorical. I plan to use...

Which do I pick? The more I read the more I change my mind. I am in search of greater reach and weather protection. Presently using Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 with 1.7 tele. Have D750 and D500. I shoot wildlife (small mammals, birds, butterflies), high school sports (field, arena) so I spend a lot of time outdoors in variable conditions year round. The weight and cost differential of the lenses do not play into my decision. The Sigma contemporary version is not in the running as I would select the...
Hello everyone, hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I use a Canon 70D and a 400mm 5.6 setup and looking to get a Tamron 150-600 G2. I've never had /used a tripod before but would like to get one and would like some advice please. I'd like to stay around $300 if possible. I do 99% bird and wildlife shooting. I understand the Tamron G2 comes with an Arca Swiss mount. Thank you Bob
I bought the Tamron150-600 G2 in October. My initial focus fine tune was at a distance of 97 ft. I started with the AFFT on the D500, values on the 10 attempts were 4 @ -6, 2 @ -8, & 2 @ -10. I then went to the "old" method of using an ISO12233 chart at the same distance and manually changing the value, going from 0 to -12 twice. This gave me a mid-point of -6 with insignificant variance from -8 to -5. I then bought the Tamron Tapin and have started collecting the data to customize the...

Hello everyone, Hope you are well. I wanted to buy a tele lens for some time, and since supermoon is tomorrow, I want to get a tele lens now. I need to decide today and buy tomorrow. Where I currently am, the only available options at the moment are Sigma 150-500mm Contemporary and Tamron 150-600mm (Not the new G2 version) Please share your opinion and experience with either of the lenses. I need to decide by tomorrow and do not have any experience on these lenses. Last tele lens I had was...
I just ordered the new Tamron 150-600 G2 and the TAP Console for Nikon mount for rent from LensRental.com. In order to get up to speed quickly with the TAP console and the software, has anyone used it yet and can provide some tips and tricks to get the best use out of it? I should note that closeup shots near minimum distances don't interest me as much as tuning it for longer range and at longer focal lengths. I have my eye on this lens as a possible purchase for a trip upcoming in late...
