I'm getting old. I moved from full-frame Canon to MFT in order to cut weight - especially longer focal length lenses. I added two PanaLeica lenses (12-24 and 50-200) to the G9 to complete my walk-about kit. Mission accomplished! I can now hike with a sling-bag instead of the backpack (more weight shed). The camera has pleasantly surprised me. I expected good handling - but the image quality and stabilization are truly impressive. OK, low-light performance is not as good as my 5Diii - but it's ...

Is that once you've used one everything just feels a bit pedestrian afterwards. So here's my take on it, and for the TLDR crowd - "The best camera I've ever owned". Stick around and I'll explain why. Right, to give some context, I have a soft spot for Olympus, my first DSLR was an E-500, followed by several Olympus models. I've owned and shot several m4/3's bodies, including the GH2, E-M5 1 and E-M1-1. I've also owned several full frame cameras and used pretty much every brand out there, so ...

After getting into Photography with an entry Nikon d3300 I decided to do some research in to getting a decent upgrade. As someone who's fortunate enough to travel the world a lot with my job and the ever increasing demands of Airlines to keep weight down i decided to take the plunge with the Lumix G9. After visiting the Photography show at the NEC in Birmingham I was blown away by the performance of the Lumix range of cameras. With the Nikon and Canon stands understandably busy I got some ...

I’m french and first of all apologize for my bad english. I’ve discovered your site two days ago and find it much more useful, helpful and fantastic than the ones I usually read. To speak about the  Lumix G9 I’ve bought after a GX8, I only can say I like this camera for everyday photo in any place. I previously got a Lumix LX 100 for every day use. I’ve left it as many people do because of the too many dust issues impossible to eliminate except in spending a big amount of money unthinkable ...

The Panasonic Lumix G9 was a game changer for me. It has tons of features that you can find in the stats and specs. In this review, I would like to go over the main features that made it a game changing camera for me. IBIS, AF, Low light. I BIS or DUAL IS: One of the most important factors for me is shooting photo and 4k video hand held. And the G9's Dual IS2 (IBIS) was the best on the market with 6.5 stops (until the EM1X came out). This feature is not like FF IBIS or APSC IBIS. This IBIS or ...

I have been using this camera for a while and liking it so far. The build quality is excellent and it has weather seal. My last camera died because of rain and I don't have to be worried shooting in extreme situations anymore. I brought it to two of my trips including a very high mountain with snow, rain, extreme weather or so. It is serving me well. The focusing in still is excellent and I almost forget I have to focus. It is really really quick though it uses contrast focus system so you ...

I have been using the G9 for a few days now and here are my first impressions. First, it's big. DSLR big. I would really like it to be a lot smaller. To me, size is one of m43 biggest advantages against other formats. But I knew it was big before buying it. It's a con I have accepted to live with The ergonomics are great though. The grip feels very good in my hands and I don't have big hands. All the buttons are easily accessible and you can extensively customize them. The joystick is kind of ...

I was in San Diego visiting my daughter and granddaughter with my new G9. I set it to do face detect focus and exposure; and to take RAW+JPEG fine so I could see how it did. The answer is, it did GREAT.  I am extremely pleased with its JPEG processing. I traded in a G7 to get the G9; I always shot RAW with the G7 because I was convinced I could make a better JPEG than the G7 could.  With the G9 that is not necessarily so!  Here are a few OOC, unmodified, JPEGs: OOC JPEG - San Diego Zoo Safari ...
