Hi guys, I recently bought a Panasonic ZS100. The first thing I realized is a steep learning curve it has even for a beginner DSLR user (have been using D3100 for a while) I have two questions 1. When I startup the camera by throwing the lever to 'ON', the lens comes out with a whirring sound but then I hear a high pitch two-note sound (similar to screech you hear sometimes when writing on a blackboard with a piece of chalk). This sound lasts for almost one second Question - What sound is...

I have a ZS100, and overall, it's a great camera. However, it has developed a problem with the zoom lever that makes it much harder to use and makes it's best feature, the zoom lens, sort of useless. The zoom lever sticks, and I have to use my fingernail to put a lot more force on it to zoom in or out. This works for an occasional shot here or there, but gets tiring quickly. How can I fix the zoom lever so that it moves smoothly?

Revisiting addition of filters to my zs100.  Any good / bad experience with mag filter or lensmate.  I know I could just hold a filter in front of lens but do not want to do that method. --LarryBlessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape

hi all  I’m in search of a compact camera.  I’ve read the reviews and am still on the fence. I like the idea of a longer zoom for portrait needs and in camera editing of distracting backgrounds  the Panasonic ZS100 or 200 was also on the list.  I also like the tilt screen I use it on my A7iii all the time  90% of the time I use my camera indoors and I appreciate a sharp image that is not so noisy when you push the iso higher  how do these Sony’s handle that   I’m not brand loyal per se. just...

Elliott,  I recall that you once did an IQ comparison between the Stylus 1 and the Panny ZS100 (was it ZS200?) Anyway, can you post the link or just give a summary of your findings? I seem to recall (it's not easy at my age) that there wasn't much difference.  Thanks!

I'm trying really hard to decide if I should go with the GX85+12-32+35-100 lens combo or the Zs200/Tz200. They are roughly the same price (around 600€), I've handled both of them, with the GX85 being a little heavy but that's fine. I would use it as a travel camera, carrying it on a belt pouch or on my hiking backpack. With the zs200, there are many reports of softness, especially at higher zooms, and I'm afraid of dust getting into the lens, would be really hard to clean. The Gx85 seems more...

Hi everyone, I'm an owner of the Panasonic ZS100 and I really like the camera overall, and I got it from trading in my Olympus E-5 and 2 old lenses; one being the 70-300mm giving me 140-600mm zoom. I used that combination for birding and some wildlife, but it wasn't my main focus of photography, so that's why I traded them in for the ZS100. For the long zoom, I still use the Kodak Z981 having an optical zoom of 26mm-676mm and so far, it is adequate for my needs, but poor AF for sports or...

I'm looking for a small "pocketable" camera for mostly video. My choices are: Panasonic GX850 with kit lens Panasonic LX10 Panasonic ZS100 This will be just for travel. Will be using it mostly indoors like office environment, church, hotel/office lobby, airports, street at night. Mostly low light scenarios. I like the combination camera/video instead of a dedicated video camera as I would also like to take some stills. All the camera's mentioned are priced almost identical. GX850 with kit...

Hi everyone! This is the first time I post here as I need people's advice! I'm interested in buying a compact camera-as I already have a NIKON d7000 but not using it much around due to its size. I want to be able to take sharp pictures of dental devices on my bench (dental technician) and also use it for general purposes (family/holidays etc). I concluded in a lumix lx10 and was determined to buy it thinking that if its macro ability doesn't satisfy me I'll simply attach a raynox 250, but...
