I have FT3 and when I set it to AVCHD the camera store the videos in a separate folder with their own numbering system and that would have messed up my cataloging system so I just set it to Motion JPEG and the videos were in the picture folder with apropriate numbering but the resolution was limited to 720p luckily my laptop can only handle 720p and no 1080p so it was fine but I will update to a more capable laptop later this year and might update my camera to FT5 as well, but only if the...
I haven't been there in about 20 years, and we're doing a 4 day stopover on the way to maui with 3 older teenagers. I hoping to travel 'reasonably' lite so I'm avoiding any DSLR gear, I may also have a TS4 along (more for water activities in maui) but that doesn't offer anything different focal length. Plan on the usual - Alcatraz, cable cars, the Warf, GG bridge, maybe a day in Sonoma, etc Am I shorting myself by just opting for the LX5 ? Or can I cover most of the touristy type things in...
Hi,I've got a question about the Panasonic DMC-TS4 which I hope somebody is able to answer. Can you somehow control the shutter speed of that camera during video, or at least have a fast shutter speed? Does anybody know how fast the shutter speed is during recording videos? The reason is that I'm going to use it for recording video during skiing. The last camera (which I unfortunately lost during the last kilometer of the last descent of the season and when climbing back it was gone...) was a...

I wanted to share my recent experience with Panasonic warranty service that I found shocking. I hope someone might find this useful. I'm huge fan of brand's product (phones, tv, audio, kitchen ware, etc), for decades of zero problems level. Recently I bought water-resistant dust-proof camera for underwater (pictures, video, happy family vacation). There was no active use elsewhere, but "rugged" Panasonic DMC-FT4 leaked on the first snorkeling in salt water (Red Sea, Sharm...
Hi all,I've been enjoying photography for few years, using couple of canon entry level dslr. dslr cameras are good, but they are too big for my pocket, so I have a Panasonic point and shoot (Lumix DMC FX38 aka FX37) with me all the time. The DMC FX38 is great for snapshot, but until recently I found a few gray spots on the pictures. Not sure if the dust are trapped inside the lens or on the sensor...but they are more visible if the lens is zoomed out.Anyway, the warranty has expired and I...
Went to Best Buy to buy my daughter the Rebel ts4, and came back by mistake with the 60D. She's a young filmmaker and she's used the 60D. I thought of getting the Rebel because of the auto focus and touch screen. It's a gift for her.The camera gods may have been looking out for me: is the 60D a better all around camera for Video production? Is the autofocus feature something that I should exchange the camera for? Thanks for your help.
I'd really like a tough, weatherproof compact camera with some manual exposure controls, and the TS4 appears to be the *only* weatherproof compact that offers them. But I'd like to know more. Exactly what manual control does it offer? I am hoping it provides full control over aperture and shutter speed, but sometimes when a manufacturer states "manual" the choices are still somewhat limited to just a few aperture and shutter settings. Also, how would you say the TS4 does in low light, like on...
