I picked up this as my very priest camera back in March. I have been very pleased with it so far. The zoom range is incredible, reaching up over 3,000mm! However, as expected, past 1500, it get quite bad quality. The high ISO levels create a TON of noise. The autofocus is a bit slow, but that’s expected with a point and shoot, though. As somebody who spent 20 years as a professional photographer, before losing the love, I recently decided to take the plunge again in order to capture images of local wildlife during the Covid 19 lockdown. I knew that I would need a long zoom and also knew that I couldn't justify the outlay necessary for a DSLR and appropriate lens. Having read the forums here, I had my doubts on ordering the FZ-82. There was a lot of criticism of high noise levels throughout the ISO range. To qualify this review, I am not a birder. I use cameras for enjoyment and the satisfaction of getting good enough pictures to watch on a 4k TV. I mainly use it outdoors in daylight for scenery, beaches, architecture etc, and then indoors in churches, museums, cathedrals etc. Most of my subjects are static.
