Better pictures than my highly-competant Yashica T4/Zeiss formula lens film point-and-shoot, and significantly more portable. Large LCD with big menu items makes things easier for my aging eyes (I have to remove my glasses to read menu items on many other brands). Being able to conserve battery life by shutting down the LCD and using a viewfinder would be irrelevant for me -- again -- because of the eyeglass removal issue.
