I just received a new Lumix GX85 and I see there have been developments since I last bought a camera, which was an Olympus epl2. What really is 4K photos. Looks like some kind of burst, but I don't really understand it. I've been taking photos for 60 years, at least. Have only use my epl2 for travel photos, but have more time now and want to expand a bit.

My new Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III has a USB Micro-B data port instead of the standard Olympus USB port. That means the RM-UC1 release that I use on my E-PL2 and PEN-F won't fit. Olympus doesn't show a Micro-B remote release on their website and the only one I could find was one made for Fujifilm cameras. So I bought two different models on Amazon and neither work.Yes, I can use the phone app, but I like a physical cable release to use when I need something fast. Anyone know of one that...
Hi all, It's my first post, although I have leveraged the collective wisdom for a while! I'm looking to replace my Oly E-PL2 with the E-M10 line, and have doubts whether to buy the new Mark III or the Mark II (which I can find for 90 € less). Key questions I have: What will the TruePic VIII bring vs. TruePic VII? Faster focus? Better images? Will it be something noticeable? What advantages in focusing does the Mark III have? More AF points? is it a marginal improvement or a game changer? Do...
I routinely shoot a show that has terrible lighting and am considering buying an IR light to illuminate it myself. Does anyone have any experience converting an Olympus camera to IR ? I have an e-pl2. Please let me know your thoughts and any caveats, and also anything you really like to do with your IR camera. Thank you.
Recently bought myself a set of cheap chinese radio flash triggers. Pocket Wizard knock offs. They work great with my epl2. Put them into the hotshoe and shoot away - the strobes fire fine. Totally do not work with my OMD. A bit of investigation shows why - the epl uses the retaining rim of the hotshoe as one part of the circuit to fire the strobe trigger wit the hot spot on the middle of the shoe floor giving the other contact. The OMD has a heavily anodised paint job on the hot shoe rim -...
I recently bought a used olympus E-PL2 to try out the micro four thirds system (until this I've always had SLRs). Theres something happening with the exposure compensation that I don't understand though, and I wondered if anyone can help explain it? With every camera I've ever used, the exposure compensation isn't complicated; I set (say) -1EV and from then on that is applied to all shots unless I change it. With the E-PL2 though, it isn't staying as I set it. For example: the camera is in...

My Olympus E-PL2 simply won't pick up violet. It renders violet flowers as a lovely blue. I was hoping there might be an improvement in later PLxx models or a firmware change. I see that the latest models still use the same sensor, which isn't encouraging. What makes it worse is that the iPhone seems to have solved this problem. I was explaining to a friend the fascinating problem of violet versus purple, and how digital sensors can't detect true violet. To prove my point I whipped out the...
Hi all- I've been using my trusty E-PL2 for a number of years now, and soon will have the need to use a more powerful, external flash for an event I'm shooting. Was wondering if I can use my old Nikon SB-24 -- I put it in the hot shoe, but it didn't trigger. (BTW, I've confirmed that the SB-24 shouldn't fry the circuitry of the Oly already) Am I missing something? Should this work, and if so, how would I use it? I assume on manual, but how specifically? My flash knowledge is rusty, as it...
I have just purchased the above camera. The manual indicates that there should be an icon on the screen when I use a Myset. My reading suggests that this is a new feature with this camera. So far I have not been able to see this icon displayed even after selecting one of the two Mysets I have programmed. I know that the Myset works because the camera settings do change when I choose the different Mysets. Has anyone else run into this behaviour or can tell me what I am doing wrong? (I have...
