This review is left in 2022. I am a fan of older Olympus cameras, as the colours are exceptionally good. However, with the advent of smartphones, manufactures have pulled from making making advanced compacts camera with PASM. It is 2022. I am still waiting for a manufacturer to make a decent advanced compact camera. Not everyone wants to use a smartphone for photography. It takes too long to change settings etc..... I have looked at advanced compacts from Sony, Panasonic, Fuji, Canon, Nikon ...

One of Olympux premium compact cameras. Combines XZ-1 form factor and fast lens with very good BSI CMOS sensor. Additionally it has tilting LCD, larger battery and more refined UI. I have XZ-1, XZ-2 and Stylus1s. All three of them are great travel cameras, but XZ-2 is perfect for that role thanks to its size and very good RAW image output. Then it depends if I need low light capability and direct USB charging = XZ-2 or long reach with 28-300/2.8 = Stylus1s. I can recommend both.
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewThis camera was not designed with zone focusing in mind, lacks settings where you can record a preset focus distance, minimum shutter speed or a specification of a range of working apertures. However, after more than a 5 years of use and testing I have found a configuration that I feel comfortable with and allows me an ultra-fast way of shooting. The first thing to do is to take advantage of the small sensor and use the zone focus method. I use it in manual focus with -2 clicks on the pad ...
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewI had been looking for a light, very small camera for times when the Nikon DSLR is just more than I want to carry. I took notice of the XZ2 when it first came out and was quite impressed. I have always liked Olympus cameras and have relied on them when I’ve wanted to reduce the size and weight of my film equipment (OM-2 and XA2). I bought the XZ2 a few weeks ago and, for a 1.7 sensor camera, this thing is truly impressive. In the reviews that I read high ISO noise was the most consistent ...
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewI am not going to do a long review. I am sure that has been done by much better reviewers. I just want to add a few thoughts and observations. 1. Why is the LCD review screen the furthest from the back? For instance, when you lay the camera on its back (so it does not tip over) it rests flat and flush on the LCD. Its going to get scratched way too quickly. I am not a fan of having to buy accessories like screen protectors when a small design tweak could have prevented it. Maybe the screen ...
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewI really like this cam. Nice UI, after I learned how it works. Good screen. With large aperture, it`s possible to get som bokeh. Not bad for a small sensorcam. The only flaw is that saving my own preferences is rather tricky. I have to start from the beginning, even it`s a minor setting I want to save.
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewI know I am late to the party here and I expect Olympus to introduce an upgrade fairly soon. But, I did buy it in today's market and it will probably remain a viable choice for a while. I was attracted to getting a new mirrorless system like the Fuji XT-1 but decided that I was just replacing my existing compact and not my current DSLR. A mirrorless system will have to wait for now. Since I was replacing my compact, the xz-2 seemed to be a top choice along with the Fuji X-20. I was about to ...
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewIt's great camera because it is on sale now. You can get it as low as 230$ from Japan with free shipping! Shoots RAW, has manual controls, has excellent picture quality, decent AUTO mode for beginners, very quick in everything it does (shoots RAW + JPEG). Cons I've gotten two little dirt samples very quickly. I own it for about 2 months. I hope they are the last, it doesen't affect the picture quality. Mediocre video I think. It's somewhat unstable. See my video: ...
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewWhat i like - fast start-up time - fast AF - IQ, colours, details - touchscreen - art filters, hdr - art bracketing - build quality Would be better - customization: why so few functions in Fn1?, useless AF point button (I have touchscreen) on dial ring, lack of fast access to raw, why HDR is set apart from picture modes and Art Filters menu? - heavy and not fully pocketable, no wrist strap - small sensor
View review in forums Leave a comment on this reviewThis is a great all-rounder. The OOC Jpegs are nice and you can tweak the noise reduction, sharpness and other settings if you want. The best feature is the click wheel around the lens. In Aperture Priority mode it is used to adjust the aperture. If you flick the switch on the front it can then be used for manual focus. It then moves freely with no clicks and works perfectly for focus. I use the manual focus for video as this provides a solution to the camera's only serious flaw: the ...
