I recently went out in search of Fall foliage with my D7000 and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. For the most part it performed as expected, some samples here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gmh42/albums/72157674484226615 Occasionally, it over exposed significantly.  I was shooting ISO 100, 14 bit NEF, Matrix metering, Aperture priority - mostly at f/5.6.  No exposure compensation, Active-D lighting off, auto white balance. It seems the over exposures happened when the sun angle was less than optimal,...

Anyone know if the Exposure Indicator (EI) is displayed on a V1 and/or V2 when using a Dumb adaptor and camera set to manual exposure ?? The EI is displayed on the V3 and J5 when using the dumb adaptor and manual exposure. Curious as to why not on the V1/2, or have I missed something.

I'm really bad at figuring out these sort of things, conceptually, so bear with me... I'm trying to figure out which gives more effective pixels on the subject: Say I have a 400mm lens.. On the V2 with a 400mm lens (using the FT1) I would have approx 1080mm at 14MP On the D500 with the same 400mm lens I would have 840mm but at 21MP So which gives me more pixels on the subject? Please disregard any other factors i.e. IQ, focus limitations, etc. I know about all that :) Basically I'm just...

The compass display on my TG-4 firmware v2.00 is wrong. The red part of the needle points North correctly, but is surrounded by a compass rose that does not rotate. This means that if I am facing North the compass points correctly to N. But, If I turn 90 degrees to the left to face West, the pointer turns clockwise so that it now points to E. Not very intuitive. It seems like a software bug. Anyone else experienced this?

I recently replaced my 7D to newly released 80D. I was using v2 of EOS utilities software to connect my old 7D but it doesn't recognize my 80D so I uninstall that and downloaded EOS Digital Solution Disk Software 31.1A for Mac OS X from canon site. When I double click to install the software it appears on my screen for a second then disappears. I couldn't install it at all. So i cannot connect my 80D to my computer. Is there anybody else having trouble installing it to a mac? if so how would...

Recently, I expanded my lens selection with the Oly 40-150/2.8. Now, I'm in need of a transport solution flexible enough to hold my E-M5 II with either the 12-40/2.8 or the 40-150/2.8 attached. To make things a bit more complicated: I'm going for three-week-hike this summer, consequently my back is occupied by the required backpack. I plan to take both pro lenses along, attaching to the camera whichever I feel like using any particular day. As I don't want to hold the camera all day long and...

I am thinking to get one of the cheap €5 neewer eyecups/viewfinders to look at my LCD a bit better outdoors but can't work out which one is for a d610. What is most confusing is there are several versions, which most say they are for different models, BUT, they are all for 3" 3:2 screens, even though many of the models they say they are for use 3.2" screens . So what is the difference between them? And which would work for a d600/610? Here is a link to the V1, there is also a V2, V3 and so...

Hi all, I bought a J5 not too long ago. Despite some VERY irritating simplifications (no live update of the exposure or histogram and a shallow 20 frame buffer, no EVF...WHAT WERE YOU THINKING NIKON?!). *ahem* rant over. Anyway, I'm happy with the unique properties of the N1 system. That 2.7x multiplier is worth the investment alone. For BIF and fast moving subjects, I will probably get a V2 or V3 at some point later this year. Now, I am an improving macro shooter, and am looking for what...

Hello folks Ok, this comes somewhat as an odd question but the pretext for actually asking this is because I found a pretty good deal for a Nikon 1 32mm f/1.2 lens at a clearance sale. Loving doing low light photography it sounds to be one kind of a dream lens, especially where the street price is around 850$ otherwise. The thing is, I already own a Nikon J1, which is a very enjoyable camera, and I was wondering how suitable the J1 is having this f/1.2 lens mounted or if it would be somewhat...

Price difference these days is negligible, but most review sites are NOT very helpful with a comparison. And what of the UWA Tokinas vs Sigmas? --Sensors capture and render that light, so best sensor always wins despite glass outlasting the sensors.
