Anyone know of a way to use the CX lenses on an FX or DX body.  I have two lying around and not much need for the J1 Body.

Hi, I just noticed that my mirrorless camera Nikon S1 (with 11-27.5 lens) suddenly stopped working properly. I noticed the screen is darker than usual even if I am not in a dark room. When I zoom it in and out, the screen turns black and it goes back. Sometimes it stays black. I can't even take a proper picture anymore because it wouldn't focus, I guess because the lens couldn't seem to get light. I am not really a camera pro or anything. don't really know much about cameras, I hope you could...

hey all. I just picked up a Nikon 1 J3 with Nikkor 10-100mm lens. It was working perfectly, turned it off and come home a few hours later and it started to give me issues. Now when I'm trying to take a pic, the screen is black unless I'm zoomed in to 100mm. If I zoom out it gradually goes black. I cant take any pictures unless its directly pointing at a light source at 100mm. I know there was a recall but its with the 10-30mm lens, that I don't have. help? :{

I feel like an idiot asking this question, but my hours of looking through the manual over and over, going threw the menus over and over, and searching google for the answer has led me nowhere. What am I missing? How do I take a long (several minute) exposure with my Nikon J1 camera? Obviously, I'm a newb... please go easy on me.

Hi there. I have a Nikon 1 J1 camera and 10-30mm, 18,5m & 30-100mm lenses. I recently got a Haida ND 3.0 MC PRO II 1000 filter to be able to take long exposure photos in daylight. The weather is cloudy and yes this is not the ideal situation, but even with 2 minutes of exposure the photos came out very dark. What am I doing wrong ?  --My Flickr :: https://www.flickr.com/photos/patientx/ ::

Does anyone know if a PD lens will zoom properly in a WP-N1 housing? Getting the lens error issue and the PD lenses are available new, while the original lenses don't seem to be available. I'd like to salvage my J1 as an underwater rig if I can. I can't tell if the rubber zoom grommet will connect properly on to the zoom wheel on the WP-N1.

Apologies for the basic questions: Our Nikon J1 has just died after a long and tough life, are they generally worth getting repaired?  It suddenly no longer powers up after a bit of a knock.  If a repair is half the cost of a camera, then I think I would rather get a new one. Alternatively, if we were to buy a J5, will the old J1 lenses be completely compatible?  i.e. will all features of the lens be available (power on, autofocus, metering etc), or do lenses for a J5 have new...

Hi I've seen a J2 and 10-30mm kit lens for a crazy steal of a price of £85 in a local shop. It's used but comes with 2 year repair warranty and will be just as a carry everywhere snapshot camera. In the review of the J1 I read about the poor auto ISO behaviour where it chooses a stop compensation in ISO an one in tandem with s/speed, often meaning it would not up the ISO enough to provide a quick enough s/speed in dim light.  You could not in 2012 set a minimal shutter speed for auto ISO like...

For example, when I dial in to movie mode the screen displays exactly the image I'm about the record, exposure and all. (Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, I can only take 2 megapixel still shots with the dial set to movie mode.) Is there a way to have this "live view" feature while in a still picture mode? I own other mirror-less cameras that allow you to do this but can't figure it out on my Nikon J!. Thank you.

Hello folks Ok, this comes somewhat as an odd question but the pretext for actually asking this is because I found a pretty good deal for a Nikon 1 32mm f/1.2 lens at a clearance sale. Loving doing low light photography it sounds to be one kind of a dream lens, especially where the street price is around 850$ otherwise. The thing is, I already own a Nikon J1, which is a very enjoyable camera, and I was wondering how suitable the J1 is having this f/1.2 lens mounted or if it would be somewhat...
