Hi all, I recently upgraded from a d90 to a d800. My new camera on my Manfrotto190XProB tripod with Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head doesn't seem to be filling me with confidence. I am mostly use the D800 with a Nikkor 16-35mm, taking landscape images 90% of the time.I think the combined wait of the camera and lens is perhaps too much for my Tripod, no falling of Tripod yet (thankfully), though it seems like it wouldn't take much.I know people can pay a lot for Tripods and recommend that you do, I...

I bought a refurbished by Nikon D90 from KEH last week. The camera externals are pristine and functions as it should. But, When I went to check the shutter actuation, it shows 27,750. This is just ridiculous.  A shutter count that high should actually be labelled "used" instead of "refurbished".Any suggestions about what I should do? Anyone else that have had the same problem?

I am considering (likely going to) buying a D600.  I currently have a D90 and I shoot primarily with my Sigma 17-50 2.8 and 50mm 1.8.If and when I buy the D600, I plan on purchasing one lens.  My 50mm will be great for fx, and I can really only afford to pickup one new lens at this point. The obvious choice for me is the 24-120 f4.  I am ruling out the 24-85 as I want a fixed aperture.I have read numerous reviews, but I want some personal opinions from those who have used this lens.  I have...

Can anyone enlighten me please ? I have just successfully updated my D90 with the distortion control firmware version L 1.006 but I do not see a new Shooting menu item for selecting Auto distortion control during shooting (which I thought was the whole point of this update). I DO see an Auto distortion adjustment option in the Retouch menu, but that is NOT what I was hoping for with this update. Am I missing something here ? Should I have updated the A 1.00 and B 1.00 firmware as well? Thanks...

Hi,I need to make product photo of jewelry items (cufflinks). My equipment is the following: body Nikon D90; AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm F:4.5-5.6; 18-105mm; AF-S Nikkor 18-105mm; Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor; tripod Manfrotto 190xprob; sb-600 flash. I have tried various combinations, but always end up with pictures that are ok but not razor sharp. To tell the truth, I get SHARPER results with my iphone 4S (see bond47.com, all products pix taken with iphone) ! That cannot be normal! So it is obviously...

Picked up a used D90 on ebay (I know, caveat emptor!), and everything is great, apart from failure to lock focus on far away objects when the lens is on its widest setting. e.g when using my 18-55 kit lens, I don't see any problems at all from 24mm to 55mm, but when set at 18 and pointing at some distant hills, it won't focus. point it at the ground or some nearby bushes it will focus, point at the hills again and it refuses to focus. This is in broad daylight. Swapped to my 55-200 zoom,...

The NEX-7 has given me some of my best image results ever ... but it also fails  so many, may times. In shooting conditions I would never give more than a check thru and shoot, the Nex-7 fails again and again to find focus..  Additionally with the green indictor showing a subject in focus , the result is often way off. Images sent to Sony were deemed 'moving'. They were fake flowers, no wind, shot aroud an 80th of a second with image stabaization on. Back to my D90.initial purchase was to...

I discovered a cluster of hot pixels on my second D90 body today. After some opinions. Would you send these cameras in to have them remapped, or just live with it and fix it up images in post if required? Here's what it looks like at pixel level. Doesn't show up at ISO 400. Does at 800. Always red.On my other D90 this shows up at all ISO. Always white. Took me almost 3 years to notice, but by looking back at images it appears to have been there since I got the camera. It's a lot more subtle and...

Hello AllI have finally considered jumping the gun and purchasing the d7000. I need help in choosing the right lens for my interest in photography which is largely action shots or family portraits with shallow DoF/bokehs. In fact my family is shy so I prefer to be at a distance to take candid shots ... and thats where my earlier camera was handy at 15x optical zoom. Now that I intend to dive into the DSLR, I plan to completely skip the 18-105 standard lens and instead invest in a telephoto...
