D300 is my most loved Nikon body. I had many different Nikon cameras but D300 is the best of the rest. Still have it, still love it after 10 years. These days it has only one disadvantage - only 12 Mpix sensor. Now I owe also D7200 which I use as main camera. But from time to time I still turn back to D300 to cuddle with her beatiful well shaped body.

I used it few years ago and after switch to Nikon D700 and D3s. But now it cost about 100-150 USD in mint condition. Will buy one again, as second camera, also there is old but very nice and fast AF lens - Nikon 18-70, and its also cost about 130 USD in mint condition. Together its possible top buy for 250 USD! 10 years ago price for them was about 2500 USD! Also, Tamrn 17-50/2.8 (non VC!!!) - great F2.8 lens with great optical quality, and also cost about 100-120 USD in mind condition. With ...

My D300 and I just celebrated 9 years of life together, witnessing, experiencing, and capturing a wide range of landscapes, seascapes, political events, politicians, celebrities, living creatures, roadkill, sunrises, sunsets, and everything in between. Okay, I added roadkill for dramatic effect. Nevertheless, this camera has never disappointed me. If I missed a shot, it's because I forgot the right lens or simply messed up the settings. Auto-bracketing gets me every time, but when I'm ...

All in all a great camera and still one of Nikon's best DX SLRs. Excellent AF covering a large part of the picture. Very good to excellent ergonomics. A good solid body is made in Thailand (I couldn't spot any significant difference with Sendai made bodies). As usual with Nikons (I've been using Nikon bodies since late eighties) extremely reliable and simply oozes quality. AF is fast, the camera is responsive and fast enough for most of the uses. The quality of picture is good to very good - ...

Bought used, with about 18 000 shots, in mint condition. It's the best camera I have for fast action shots, but it's colour rendition leaves a lot to be desired. There are no reds, only orange. A pitty. However, it has one of the best autofocus system ever produced. It can track a moving object without any problem. Very good sports camera. Problems: None

I bought this camera in Feb 2008, just prior to the DPreview review ! It's taken hundreds of thousands of shots since then and I don't think there's been a day when I have not put her to (good) use. The Nikon D300 was a massive move from Pentax film cameras and a couple of Fuji Finepix digital 'bridge' cameras for me. Not only in terms of my creative commitment to my photography but also the financial commitment to this 'Hobby' - It's wasn't a cheap camera at the time and I had to contend ...

After three and half years, this camera feels like it has become a part of me. I've dragged it around world and to the top of Mount Rainier and it has never failed me. This wonderfully built marvel of industrial design is my personal benchmark for excellent camera design. Problems: none
