Upgraded from the nikon 2.8 efl..what hasn't been said already about this fine piece of glass!!! Awesome specially with the 2x tc!!!

I keep lenses for a long time. I started buying my "trinity" lenses in 1999, wit the AFS 28-70 f2.8, and the AFS 17-35 f2.8. I added the AFS 70-200 f2.8 VR in 2004. I recently replaced the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8E FL with the Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8VR S. I thought the F-mount lens was as good as it gets, but this new Z version is even better. It is sharp wide open edge to edge. The focus is totally silent and very fast. Image quality: Simply put, the 70-200 S produces absolutely gorgeous images. This is a bitingly sharp lens that manages to provide the maximum amount of detail in your images. There is practically no color fringing or chromatic aberration that I have been able to spot, and distortion and vignetting have been kept to a manageable minimum that is easily corrected in post processing, though in most situations it isn’t noticeable enough to need correcting at all. By far this the best Nikon Lens I have. Actually I was  quite surprised when I checked the photos taken with the Z 70-200 plus 1.4 TC. The color, sharpness and micro contract all vey vey good. BTW: The 1.4 TX will not reduce the sharpness and focus speed.

Truly an amazing lens. Superb sharpness, incredibly fast focus, great bokeh and tremendous VR this is everything that the Z-mount promised. Similar size to the F-Mount 70-200 FL, excellent handling and build quality and seems to work just as well with the 1.4X teleconverter as without. Highly recommended.
