For the price I paid for this lens... I was actually quite impressed with its performance. Other then the plastic lens mount, I can't complain. The front element doesn't rotate, so that's nice for when your using filters. Center sharpness gets better on the long end to my surprise. @ 185-200mm and stopped down around f/8-f/11. Center sharpness is awesome for a lens at this price. Bokeh is rather pleasing as well with this lens. Lens is really Light and compact. Lens worked out perfect for ...

This lens are really nice. The 55-200mm offers a good range for a low price, with a good vibration reduction too. The most interessing part it's the Auto Focus speed. It's a really fast AF, what is great to shot animals, however, the manual focus is very lighter and (maybe this is something more personal than technical) I had some trouble to focus manually, because of this high sensibility in the focus ring. Pros: (1) Low price: Really cheap for such range. Good VR: Steady. Quick AF: To get ...

I really only use this lens for when I need a long range focal length, and this lens is good for when I'm at the zoo shooting animals (don't take that too seriously). PROS: Inexpensive Good quality build/ images Nice range Vibration Reduction (VR) is nice, especially with the long range The front (where you put your filters) doesn't turn, so polarizers/ graduated filters are fine when focusing CONS: Plastic mount (it feels like it'll break of my camera body any time Only goes down to f/4 This ...

This is a great lens for anyone just starting out and wants a little more reach. In good light, this lens performs pretty well. The autofocus is not super fast, but for most tasks it will do fine. If you are looking for something to photograph portraits, kids playing and closer subjects in BRIGHT LIGHT, this lens is for you. If you are going to be shooting action sports, you aren't going to get professional quality shots. Don't expect it to be great in low light though. In low light, the ...

I won't get too elaborate since I'm just an amateur, but I would very much like someone to show me a better lens for double what this cost.  This thing is pretty amazing for the price (currently $247 on Amazon).  For me, it comes down to optical quality.  This takes seriously sharp and colorful pics.  Those few times when I've managed to select the correct exposure, WB, etc, I'm so blown away.  I can't even believe I took the shot -- they just look too good. The drawback is that the lens is ...

a wonderful telezoom lens. it is light, reasonable price, sharp. it has VR. compare with nikkor 55-300 f/4.5-5.6 VR. 55-200mm is lighter so much, cheaper a lot, and somehow I rarely take photo using focal length 300mm. 200mm is enough.
