The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 500mm F5.6E PF ED VR is a super telephoto lens that uses a Phase Fresnel element to reduce the size and weight of what would otherwise be a enormous, heavy lens. It has a maximum diameter of 106mm and a length of 237mm and weighs 1440g (the same as the 70-200 F2.8).
It has one PF and 3 ED elements and a Nano Crystal Coat to reduce ghosting and flare. The VR system reduces shake by up to 4 stops. The lens is fully compatible with Nikon's TC-14E III teleconverter. Naturally, the lens is sealed against dust and moisture.
