I recently got a used D600 in great shape. I took some photos after sunset with a Nikon 24-70 2.8g (hoya polarizer attached) and noticed lots of banding in the skies, no matter where I pointed the camera. I shot in RAW 14-bit and at ISO 50. I tried both Adobe RGB and SRGB and no difference. I was wondering if any of you, who own/owned the D600/D610, has experienced noticeable banding in the sky under normal shooting circumstances. For some reason, the banding's a lot less visible when looking...

Hi all, I've been researching fast mid range zooms (24-70 2.8 and similar) for my Nikon F80 (yes, a film camera) and later a D750, when funds allow. This body should work with almost all lenses other than the newest of the new, but I don't have the money for those anyway. :-D (see https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm) So far I've been somewhat set on the early Nikkor 24-70 G without VR, for around 500GBP. In terms of IQ (image quality) it seems like its really the best...

For the last three or four years I've stopped regulary following photography news and forums and really haven't had time to enjoy my hobby much. There were semi long periods where I haven't even taken my camera out of the bag.I'd like to get back to it (and have been) and I'd like add a telephoto, or a longer prime to my collection.I currently have D800 and nikon's 14-24, 24-70 (older version) and 85 f1.4.I've sold sigma 35 f1.4 (which I loved) couple of years ago (for financials reasons)....

Has anyone heard of the 24-70mm f/2.8E developing the same grinding problem that affected the older G version? I want to buy one, but not if it potentially has the same issue!  I had a 24-70mm f2.8G a while ago and had to send it back. However, I miss the zoom range and considering buying the new one.  Thanks

Hi all, I know this question might look silly in terms of a huge difference in the price of these two lenses! I just got my 24-70 f2.8G today and I am not still sure to keep or return it.  In 50mm, it seems that my prime lens 50mm is doing slightly better than this expensive lens. In general, would you please share me your opinion on Nikkor 24-70 or alternative option, having 24, 35, 50, and 85mm prim lenses.  Thanks

Hello and Merry Christmas. I have the chance to get a new lens (or 2) and am wondering what I should get. I shoot sports, and my current kit is as follows. Nikon d500, Nikon d3400, 70-300 VR G, and 18-55 Kit. I need to decide on whether to get  Option 1: Tamron 70-200 G2 AND Nikon 24-70 2.8 (non-VR) Option 2: Nikon 70-200E FL ED VR Thanks for your input.

I've had the 750 for 2.5 years now and many of my images are frustratingly soft in the last couple months!I've done comparison tests with my various lenses (24-70 and 16-35 being used the most) and it's confusing because I get soft images here and there throughout a session regardless of what I'm using, and regardless of my settings. I shot these two pics of my nephew (autistic - love his cheesy grimace/grin :D ) below within the same second. Both of us were standing totally still. SOOC...

Hey there,  So I'm moving over from Canon crop to Nikon FF (D750) I will be shooting some sport, portraits, general travel and landscape. I'm buying the 70-200 f4 (Outdoor full sun sport) and the 35mm 1.8 for mid range. Can always pick up the 50 1.8G for cheap and eventually will get the 85.  I need something on the wide end. Can only get one lens for now down that side and I'd like it to be a prime. Someday I may replace them with a 24-702.8 if I do events and such but will see.  I'm used to...

Hi there, I've been using Nikon since 10 Years now, used D40, D90, D7000 and many lenses but I recently sold everything because I decided to go FX, I bought a new D750 . So I only have a D750 and a old Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.4D with it. Now my question is what lens to buy now? Since I love taking portraits of my kids indoor and outdoor, I Travel and take pics on vacations. Also attend a lot of events and wedding. (Just a hobby and I never Print) I can buy AF-S NIKKOR24-120mm f/4G ED VR Or AF-S...

Yesterday unpacked some Nikon lenses from winter storage that have black rubber focusing and zoom rings like the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Lens.I pack these into individual canvas lens cases like those made by  Tamrac.  Into each, I throw in a silica dry pack. With two of my Nikkors, I found a white chalky layer on nearly the entire black rubber focusing and zoom rings.  The silica pack was nearly dry.  I suspect the dryness oxidized the rubber to the point of changing into this...
