I'm in a queue for a Nikon Z Mount 105mm lens, but in the meantime I have to use the FTZ adapter for a Nikon AF-S 105mm f2.8. I shoot tethered and the fine focus doesn't seem to work in live view. The other <<<,  >>>,  <<, and >> buttons work Anyone know if their Z Lens work or if you use an FTZ adapter for an F mount lens does fine focus work in live view with Capture One?

Hi All, I'm relatively new to Nikon DSLR cameras and own a Nikon D3500. I have been using it with no issues with several different lenses (18-55mm, 70-300mm as well as some wide angle lenses including the 14-24mm). I recently purchased a used Nikkor 105mm micro that is supposed to be fully functional and does seem to be in good condition. However after I first attached it to my camera I began to notice a weird series of failures. With the AF and VR turned on I can use it fine for anywhere...

Hey All, Following a previous post where I got some good advice, it seems that I was convicned to buy a longer macro lens to shoot insects and the like. I currently have the Nikon 85mm DX Macro lens, with a D500, and was thinking of the following three: Nikon 105mm f/2.8 VR AF-S ED G £799 Tamron 90mm F/2.8 SP Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD £599 Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG MACRO OS HSM £339 From what DXOMark says the sigma is generally better than the NIkon but doesn't have the rating for the D500. I like...

amazing I bought my StackShot gear 2 years ago, and just getting around to use it with my D610. So, question is... How/where is the camera initially focused to start the capture?   I have a 105 micro nikkor lens on the d610.   I understand the set-up (I think) but not where to initially focus given the subject... for me, it will be inanimate objects, like seed pods and other items, like shells, unique rock textures, etc.

Hi all, I have a Nikon Z7, FTZ adapter and a tripod (and two non-macro lenses). I would like to know your opinion about which Macro lens should i buy from the two lenses in the title. This is planed to be used until the new Nikon 105mm macro lens for Z mount comes out (if i will still be interested in macro at that point). - I found two interesting lenses: the Irix 150mm and the Nikon 105mm - i never had a macro lens before - The Nikon lens used is about the same price as a new IRIX lens - i...

When I attach this lens to my D850 the aperture won't go below 3.2. It does close down to 36 (not sure that number is correct either).  Is anyone else having this issue?   Thanks --Paul Amicucci

I've been thinking lately about buying prime glass for portraits but also for occasional macro stuff (rings and stuff for weddings, I'm shooting as second photographer usually). Lenses I'm stuck around are nikon 105 2.8 vr and nikon 85 1.8g. Before anyone yells: Yes, I know it's hard to compare those two, they aren't built for same kind of stuff but still.. I'm leaning toward 105 2.8 because it can do that macro part and also has some decent bokeh at 2.8 for portraits. Thing i don't know is...

Hello all, I am new to this forum and have gone through many discussions but my query remain unresolved.  I have a dx (d5300) and 35mm, 18-140mm, 10-20mm (af-p), 70-300mm(af-p) nikon lenses. I wanted to buy a specialized lens for portraits so I recently ordered 85mm 1.8G and it is yet to be delivered. Meantime I got really confused between 85mm and 105mm VR.  I am interested in micro as well...!! Thought of taking Tokina 100 mm, but it doesn't have AF motor and so mine d5300.  Second choice...

Hi, I recently started with 'scanning' my 35mm negatives with DSLR (Nikon D5500 with 105mm Nikkor 1:2.8G - Lightroom 6 - VueScan 9). On several sites it is recommended to use the small strip in-between foto's for white-balance. Now I noticed that my negatives have a green and magenta color bar. Can those bars be used in any form for achieving quick and pleasant negative to positive conversions ? 35mm filmstrip with color bars  Best regards, E.J.

This lens was originally manufactured in Japan when it released in 2006 (2006-2008), and currently manufactured in China since 2010. I found someone who wants to sell his lens, that was manufactured in Japan (10 years old now). So, what I want to know is: 1. Have there been any changes to this lens since it was first manufactured in 2006? 2. Important things to keep in mind while checking this used lens (before purchase). How do I decide if the lens is in a good condition, tips? 3. Is it...
