Just at the moment there are not any reviews of this new lens from Nikon, that I have seen at least, so I offer my early impressions for those who may be considering such a lens. I have had the new Nikon 18-300 for only a few days and am very impressed with it so far. I had the first 18-200 VR and really liked that lens on my D5100 a few years ago. The 18-300 suits my D5300 and I am very happy with the IQ throughout the range. In some early comparison shots it matches my Tamron SP 70-300 at ...

Originally, this review had a more negative tone.  After comparing some files, I found that my older lens wasn't quite as amazing as I remembered it being, and therefore this lens isn't bad by comparison.  I have adjusted the review and the rating accordingly. * * * All-in-one lenses are necessarily full of compromises. What makes them worthwhile is not the image quality, but the versatility.  When I switched from Sony to Nikon, I did my research and concluded that this was the all-in-one ...

This is without hesitation one of my favorite lenses and one that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a zoom lens with optimal convenience in daily use. You've got to have realistic expectations when evaluating superzooms but when you do, this lens will exceed them by a wide margin. Sharpness is excellent at wide angle and stays fairly good - compared to its similarly priced competition - well into the telephoto range. Bought this lens for use with N1 v2 and adaptor. It's now attached to my D7200 where it lives almost permanently. It's the only lens I own besides a wide angle Samyang and the N1 pancake zoom. It has gotten me some great shots so far with incredible detail even if I crop heavily. Looking forward to trying some primes. If they can surpass this one I will be seriously impressed. Works well for me at the moment. Great to be able to experiment with lots of different styles before I buy ...

I purchased the 18-300 f6.3 version because of its weight. I was going on the inca trail and didn't fancy lugging my favourite Sigma 50-500OS. I also wanted a reasonably wide lens to capture more of the scenery. Before going I had the lens on my camera for a couple of months to get used to its foibles. I use a Nikon D5200 - mainly because of it's light weight and high resolution. Image quality - the wide end was all I wanted, and I've enjoyed using this lens for landscape. The long end is ...

This lens does simply everything that one expects from it as viewed in review videos and specs. It is great for everyday photography, travelling or even outdoor sports. The wide to telephoto range gives a huge field of applications were this lens could come in handy. Since getting it I did not yet took it off my D7100 body!! Highly recommended . The only draw back is the sharpness on the edges of the photos and some minor vignetting might be present at 18mm. Otherwise it's a great quality ...
