The camera has a lot going for it: Very compact. Easily pocketable even with its case. Excellent macro mode (35mm full frame coverage) that I have not seen on other "wide angle" compacts. As on some Nikons of the past, the sweet spot for macro mode is not at the widest angle zoom, so there is less barrel distortion. Nikon Coolpix S6000
I've bought S6000 in a PC fair recently. First I was in doubt to buy S6000 or canon IXUS 130. But after investigation I found out that S6000 is superior. In the first view you may don’t like the feature but within the first few days you will like it. The tele and macro zoom are excellent. The tele zoom is much better than IXUS 130. The S6000 is the odd one out of the new Nikon Coolpix line. Many retailers will stock the S8000 and S4000, but will overlook the S6000. That's too bad, because its resolution/lens combination (28mm-180mm equivalent/14mp) is in the sweet-spot for vacationers and advanced amateurs who, like me, don't want to lug their big SLR and bag with them everywhere the go.
