Nikon Coolpix P7700

In November 2013 I bought the Nikon p7700 as a complementary camera to my D3200, especially when flying or for weekends away. I cannot say how surprised I am by the quality of the images from this superb compact camera. I have taken identical shots with both cameras at the same equivalent apertures, shutter speed, ISO, picture settings etc, and then processed the JPEGs from each in Phtoo shop as raw files, with the same Clarity and Sharpness settings. I bought the P7700 to complement my Nikon D5100 DSLR and lenses when I'd rather carry something smaller. Early on, I've been astonished by the P7700 image quality and controls. The 28-200 equivalent lens is quite fast at f/2.0-4.0 and performs very well, aside from occasional chromatic aberrations showing up in details like tree branches in landscapes. I can compare the P7700 to my Canon G10, Panasonic LX5 and Pentax Kx, I like this Nikon a lot. Built like a tank, a lot of commands - I like especially the 3 user's programs, I made one for 'internet photos' (fast low resolution), one for 'people' (fast, 8 MP, external flash) and one for 'maximum quality' (manual mode, raw, 12 MP, etc.).
