New guy here, photo tyro with a100 and a200, as well as a "pile" of glass. Purchased this adapter recently. It was sold as an a-mount to MC/MD adapter. It is not. It definitely fits my a-mount cameras, but an MC lens I have doesn't fit on it. It appears to have been made by Minolta. Any ideas? These were grab shots at 210mm handheld. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;) --Zorba"The Veiled Male"

I have taken an interest again in photography after many years, I have a Sony A100 which is in mint condition, it was a gift several years ago on my 70th birthday, so I want to use it. I have a few Canon FD lenses in excellent condition which I want to use with the A100, I read I could use an adapter to allow me to do that so I have bought one. I am unfamiliar with the intricacies of the A100, even after reading some of the comments on line and this site I am at a loss to  get to grips with...

How far in to the zoom range does the minimum focus distance exceed one metre? I like to take photos of butterflies and my current long zoom cameras can focus as close as one metre at around 600mm which feels about right for me. What is the focus speed like and is there much shutter lag? Is auto exposure and auto white balance reliable? I have a Sony RX100 which I think I will sell because it often underexposes shots and the auto white balance sometimes is way off. My old Canon SX240 has...

Recently I found a need for a pocketable long-zoom, for two reasons: Stealth. I'll save 100 words here as you might already know what I'm going to say. Portability. If I'm just going to idle in a park for a while and not on a serious birdwatching mission, I might want a light and compact camera. I've studied Nikon A1000 and Canon SX720/730/740 HS. They all have a thickness no more than 4cm, and the Canon ones have the longest zoom within the 4cm thickness: 960mm. The SX720 HS is the...

I am very much an amateur photographer and have a challenge to produce a double exposure photo. I had a P900 for a while but smashed it in an accident. I need step by step instructions as to how to get to the right place to get the settings set. I have tried to watch a video but it is done too rapidly for me to follow and I can't stop the video each time to check where I am up to.

My son borrowed my DT 16-105 f3.5-5.6 recently and I think he has tried to zoom with the front focusing ring. I find the zoom to be stiff, even sometimes not being able to zoom from 16 mm to 105 mm ie sticking at a focal length. I also have noticed that though the camera can auto focus with the lense the actual focusing ring at the front of the lense does not move at all. I can manually move the ring but I do not see the focus changing through the viewfinder. All of the above occur when the...

When composing a shot in my D800 x 70-200, I zoom in on the back LCD to a 100% and can't seem to get pin sharpness of say a tree 80m away no matter what I do, tripod and all. Why.

Hey all. Yesterday, I got a secondhand Sony A100 as a first "pro" camera. I really want to get into photography. So, I power it on, works really well, with the CompactFlash already inside. I power it off and on 2 or 3 times, no problem. As I did not want to buy a CompactFlash+Reader, I just bought a SD card adapter. I plug it in, then power the camera back on. Nothing. I try to charge the battery, but it was already completely full. So, can a camera die from a bad SD card adapter? Or did the...

Hi, I recently got a hold of an A100! Body and kit lens. But it still has the original firmware. Would you be able to point me to a reliable place where I could still download the latest firmware upgrade? I believe Sony stopped supporting the long long time ago. The camera was US-bought. Dumb question too, can the sensors on these cameras be upgraded so that at least the 800 ISO images are usable? :) Cheers! Thank you Jay
