Nikon Coolpix 5700 User Reviews

5 megapixels | 1.5 screen | 35 – 280 mm (8×)

This camera has been a great little go-to system for the last 10,000 photos.  5mp and great optics, easy to use with lots of flexibilities.  It takes movies and continuous pictures.  It's light. I'm glad I own it. The problems are: The photos in automatic mode look consistently great, but after every shot the trashcan is displayed.  It essentially takes as long to take a 640x480 VGA as a RAW or uncompressed TIFF.  I've missed many many good shots because of this.  The trashcan shot ...

This is a good starting-level camera, with acceptable image quality and color, good zoom range and macro. Its only problem its slowness: slow startup time, slow autofocus, slow cf card writing. When you need to be quick, this is not your machine... i missed many good opportunities because of this. Problems: At long exposure times, my camera burns in the same pixels with the same color (about ten pixel long lines, and about twenty on a full image)

- image quality is decent - porbably because of the good old physically large sensor. - flip out & twist LCD - 8x optical - good lens quality - TTL hot shoe - visual design is stylish, agressive, i jus tlove the blue light indicating the self-timer - build quality is excellent - very strong, this camera is for ages, 20,000 shots in different conditions is not a problem. Problems: - power switch button badly placed - can accidentally turned on while grabbing the camera out of the bag - ...

When it works this camera takes excellent photographs. The automatic focus can be frustrating slow at times, and useless in poor light. Problems: My problems with this camera started on day one. The first camera from the shop failed to turn on, replaced it for another one, seemed ok until I had to use the flash. Replaced it again, third camera in as many days. This camera lasted a bit longer - about two months - before the lens unti stopped operating. Luckily this was covered under warranty. ...

Good macro with tripod but TTL Flash is still missing. Therefore sharp hand held macro shots difficult to take. The small film sensor makes possible the long depth of field. The lens focuses from infinity down to very small minimum frame area. These both properties are needed in macro shots. Problems: - TTL flash is still missing, although it was invented already 1975 (Olympus OM2). - Shutter lag is smaller than in Coolpix 4500 but still too slow for action shots.

Problems: I am intrigued by the Nike 8700 however I am afraid that my current 5700 will again make a trip to Nikon to fix the internal flash/speedlight due to a return of the SB (flash needs to recharge issue). I already had this fixed once. Is this a known problem? Any suggestions and feedback would be welcome and encouraged. Thank you

I have shot more than 10,000 pictures and I must say not I don't get a lot of keepers due to the slow focusing lens... It works really great in sunny conditions but even so I'm never quite pleased with the blue skys it produces. The traces of reddish spots mixing with the blues are sometimes so noticeable I can't help but feel disgusted when my friend's Olympus 350 could produce better skies instead. The four control buttons at the left side should be recessed as I frequently press them by ...
