I own it | I want it | I had it |
The G3 Beat is to the G3 what the G2 Mini was to the G2, a slightly downgraded model with a smaller scree but very similar design philosophy. The G3 Beat's 8MP camera comes with the same laser-AF system that can be found on the G3 and should provide faster and more precise focusing. Touch & Shoot is a function that we have seen before on some high-end devices and allows you to focus on a certain spot in the frame and capture the image at the same time by tapping on the preview image. Selfie-Cam starts a 3 second self-timer when you make a fist in front of the screen and captures an image with the 1.3MP front camera.
The 5-inch display comes with a 720p resolution and Android 4.4.2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC and 1GB RAM. 8GB storage is not too generous but a microSD-slot means you can easily expand it. The 2.540 mAh battery is user-removable which allows you to carry a spare for power emergencies.
In terms of the design the G3 Beat follows the same „Floating Arc“ philosophy as its bigger brother. Like the G3 it has very thin bezels and LG claims with the display covering 74% of the device front the G3 Beat offers the best display/overall size ratio in the mid-range bracket.
