Based on the Nikon F5 Body (the mutha of all 35mm) the 620 is very robust. It's metal chasis and very nice rubber grips offer a superbly built camera. Function is intuitive. Some programing is not-so intuitive. Image quality at 2 megapixels thru Nikkor lenses is excellent, however... a retrofit to upgrade to 6 megapixels would be nice. I purchased the camera used through Precision Camera.com at $1400 USD. While the camera overall is exceptional... it's still a $1400 2 megapixel camera. Problems:

Reliable camera with excellent MF lens support (very good for my very old 55mm 1.2 (40 years) and 80-200mm 4.5 (25 years), I have replaced the original NiCd battery to Sanyo NiH 2000MA battery cells. It gives me a very good battery life (I do not switch off the camera more than 12 hours with 250 shoots, battery meter still display full). Problems: The battery pack is very difficult to open without demage and the camera is heavy and big (but very eye attractive)

I went digital from Hasselblads when Hassie Backs stayed in the +$20M range and haven't looked back. Shooting D1/F100 in tandem and DCS620/F5 as my digital and film combinations has kept clients happy and cut expenses buy 50%. DCS620 with 1gig. Calluna Type 3 card has much faster capture than D1 with 1gig Microdrive and is lightyears ahead for fashion work. Battery life is superb with new "gold" batteries. No problem with 16x20 output using Genuine Fractals and v.5.9 capture software. ...

Excellent shadow detail. Color balance which is the real key is right on the money most of the time. It's incredible. Made up to 16x20 canvas print on a bridal portrait. Very nice. Problems: Wish it had a bigger file size. Basically, I have to try and perfectly crop every picture on the camera, because it doesn't leave you much room for error, because you're working with so few (relatively) pixels.
