The Huawei MateBook is a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet hybrid that is directly aimed at Apple's iPad Pro and the Microsoft Surface 4 Pro. The Matebook comes with Intel Core m3, m5 or m7 processors and runs Windows 10 Home or Professional Edition, making it an option for mobile image editing with full desktop apps such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.

The hardware is wrapped up in a thin aluminium unibody and the 12-inch ISP LCD display offers a 2160 x 1440 resolution. The detachable keyboard comes with ergonomically curved keys that provide 1.5mm travel. It is spill-resistant and wraps around the device for extra protection of the display. The new MatePen, an active precision pen, is another input option and especially suited for writing and drawing. Power is provided via a 4430 mAh Lithium Battery that, thanks to Huawei's battery saving technology, should be good for 10 hours of typical usage. A fingerprint sensor on the edge of the device doubles as power button and provides extra security. A docking station offering HDMI, VGA, USB and network ports can be plugged into the device's USB Type-C connector.
