The Huawei G8 is the more affordable alternative to the Chinese manufacturer's flagship smartphone Mate S. It comes with the same 5.5-inch screen size but swaps the AMOLED display for IPS LCD technology. Importantly for mobile photographers it offers the same camera specs as its premium cousin though. As on the Mate S the G8 uses an image processor that is independent from the main system chip. a 13MP RGBW sensor is coupled with an F2.0 aperture, OIS and a dual-LED flash. Additionally the camera app offers a new 'professional' mode that allows for manual setting of ISO, shutter speed, white balance, focus and metering mode. The 5MP front camera has to make do without the dedicated flash that can be found on the Mate S.
