The still photos are very good indeed. I was quite surprised at how good they were; almost as good as my Panasonic LX3. The HD video mode sucks big time and that because the anti shake system doesn't work very well in video mode. The VGA video was quite good on the other hand. Hard to understand why the VGA video was so good and the HD video was not. I particularly enjoyed setting the best shot selector to pick the mode and it generall pick the right mode. use it as a true point and shoot - auto best shot - and be pleasantly surprised. many of the photos taken in this mode looked fine when displayed on a 42-inch hdtv screen, even when zoomed 100%. for those living in areas with bright sunlight, iso 64 can be a boon. the reasonably fast lens also helps in low-light situations. it is possible to zoom in auto best shot movie mode. zoom control is limited, but after all this is a point and shoot.

Test Casio Exilim Z-400 The picture quality is reasonable. It is even better than expected. I was surprised that there was no MACRO setting for close pictures. The Macro pictures were although reasonable anyway but still not as good as with my previous Casio Exilim S-770. Lot of professionals would say that the picture would be unusable with higher ISO than 400 and I do agree with that.
