Background: People asked me to take photos of a family event, it went nice and they liked the photos. Next by someone that was in that event, was invited to shoot an small event, but they would pay me, it went OK, and people liked the photos. I wasn't very happy with the photos. Used mostly the 18-150mm (outdoor event with clear sky tried to keep F>8) Although the photos are nice and had the reach to take the photos (used máx 100mm) from far, it felt it lacked sharpness. Now i was invited to...
Hi EOS-M gang I'm planning to use an EOS-M camera as a webcam but haven't worked out which model would work best for me, and I'd really appreciate your advice, please. My requirements are: Must function with the EOS Utility: Based on the product drop down on this webpage, I believe all models of EOS-M camera fulfil this requirement. Must be able to take power from USB. I've been searching manuals for this functionality (e.g.) but I can't find it officially mentioned, although I see anecdotal...
Hello! Most of the time, I use my M5 and M50 with adapted, rather cheap EF lenses. I own a Viltrox EF-M adpater as well as its Canon counterpart. Wondering why many pictures lack a bit of sharpness, I did a couple of test and I was quite surprised that using the manual focus produced considerably sharper pictures than shooting with auto focus. The effect is the same for both adapters and both cameras. It's most obvious with more open apertures - and when digitizing 35mm negatives with my 50mm...
My main camera right now is a Nikon Z6 which I love with all my heart. However, I've been looking recently for a more portable camera which I can carry around daily. A couple of weeks I temporarily went crazy and decided to trade in my Canon M5 + EF-M 15–45 + EF-M 55–200 in order to get either a Ricoh GR iii or a Fuji X100V. Fortunately, when the shop assistant saw my gear, he immediately suggested I save money and get an EF-M 22 prime lens hinting that I might even lose in quality if I go...
Hi everyone! Looking for some advice here.... I've been a Canon DSLR user for quite some time, as an advanced amateur that plays around with the idea of making money with this photography stuff while mostly just taking great pictures of my family. I upgraded from an older Rebel XS to the M5 later last year - and it was a HUGE upgrade in almost every way. I don't really do much at all with video - heck it wasn't even an option on my old Rebel. There's some things I've really enjoyed about...
Hi all, just a quick one: I have both the M5 and M50 and can't find the how long each long (in minutes) each camera will record a movie for on a full battery charge. Does anyone have experience in this, or know the answer? I'm going to record an event on a tripod and would like an hour, is this possible, or would I need an external power source?

Hi, After recently asking about an upgrade to my M5 and Thanks for all who gave advise. A question came up regarding the effects of using the EF adapter I guess it would be similar on both the M and RP. What should one take into consideration when using the adapter? Thanks again speed.
Hi All, I have a M5 which I think the PQ is great especially through a 70-300L lens I bought a few years back and have never regretted it!My wife has an sx50 which after seeing the quality and better usability of the M5 is now disappointed with it. So my question is :- I having been looking at the RP and 24-105l bundle so she can use the M5 possibly for now with a 55-250 then look at a better lens when funds allow! So is the RP a necessary good upgrade? I don’t have lots of money to use, But...
Having owned a Canon DSLR some time ago, I've been keeping an eye on the Canon M line. I checked out the M5, I was surprised to see that the EVF magnification was just 0.62, which was much lower than the 0.75 (approx) that I had been hoping for. The current M6 II has been highly rated by DPReview, and I see from the forum that many are happy with the add-on EVF. How does that EVF compare with the one on the M5? Is the magnification higher? How's the refresh rate? Thanks! --Dostoy, from Oz(Oz...
