My questions first: Is it possible that my 5d IV sensor got tilted inside the camera due to a moderate drop? And has ayone had this happen/have any estimate on what it may cost to fix through CPS? The issue: when shooting primes wide upen (i.e. 50mm @ f1.4), the focal plane clearly is closer on the right side of the frame than the left side of the frame. I.e. if I'm shooting a line of people, left side is back focused and right side is front focused, and I can see on the ground (grass is...

I have a 7D (original version) that I bought in 2011 and have used a lot. I now have about 30 or more dead or defective pixels on the image sensor. Canon wants over $600 to replace the sensor or I can get a new 7D mark 2 body for $1500. I'd also need to get new flash cards and probably a new spare battery.   I am starting to lean towards getting the new 7D mark 2 but I'd appreciate comments. I use the camera mainly for bird photography and major family social events, the bird photography...

One of the features I use from time to time on my original EOS-M (and my iphone) is the ability to take a still picture while I'm taking a movie. It looks like Canon has dropped this feature from their latest DSLRs with the exception of the 7D MK II and 70D.  (I've checked the manuals for the 5D MK 4, 6D Mk II, SL2, 77D, 80D, T7i ).   I thought it was a side effect of "dual pixel AF" but both the 7D MK II and 70D support the feature. This feature and the lack thereof is clearly spelled out in...

Hi, I'm need need for some advice on Marco lens Which would you recommend between the Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Marco USM or the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Marco (canon). I own a Canon 7D.  I mainly take photos of landscapes and wildlife. I'm hoping to photograph fungi and insects with one of these lens. Thanks Kelsie

Hello guys and thanks for the help in advance. So I'm kinda new to photography (when it comes to the technical aspects of it) and I recently bought a used Lumix GH4 for 700 USD on Craigslist, all legit, amazing condition, a steal I would say. At first I wanted to do 60% video and 40% photography, but I soon realized that I want to do 80% photography and a bit of video. I already put the GH4 for sale for about 850(150 profit) and I've had a few offers, the question is; should I keep the gh4 as...

Hello all,Back in the hobby after 7 years and have a question or 50.  But lets start with my burning issue.  Looking at the 7D MII as a replacement for my 40D:-( which seems to have been hit by an EMP).  However the inability to link spot metering to the focus point seems insane - I mean what's the point if you can't link to your FP?How does the spot metering work then? I don't really want a D500 but I almost always use spot on wildlife and sports and can't imagine life without it?Thanks for...

I'm looking to get into bird/butterfly photography more seriously. I'm looking to spend around $2000. I've been looking at APS-C cameras and I've been considering: Canon: 100-400II plus used 7D; 100-400 I plus used 7D mark II; finally  5.6 400mm prime with a used 7D mark II.   Nikon: D7200 plus 200-500, or the 80-400.  Or, one of these APS-C bodies with a third party lens. I open to Sony if there is a simple, comparable option. Which would you choose and why?

Howdy guys and girls, I have an off again / on again relationship with photography that has seemed to restart with the interest from my 17 YO son wishing to learn more about taking photos.   With the advances in technologies over the last decade or more in photography my once "cool" gear has somewhat become OLD.    I still have my original and working Konica/Minolta Maxxum 7D that my dear wife spent big bucks for when it first came out and a just recently "dying" Dynax 5D that I purchased...

Hello, I am using Canon 7d, and trying to do demonstrate some live images while operating the camera. The camera is connected with HDMI to a screen and the images I take are displayed automatically on the screen, the only problem is that when I press the shutter button halfway, the playback mode stops, and not coming back until the next image. I am looking for a way to keep the playback mode live during the entire presentation time, only to switch to the last image taken. is there a way to...
