Hi all, this is my first post in this forum having (mostly) moved from using a Canon EOS 7D to an Olympus OM-D E-M5 II a year or so ago. Most of the time I'm happy with single shot AF, but sometimes I've had the camera miss the intended subject and back focus. These have been in situations where I would have expected the EOS 7D to have focused correctly. The AF target mode I usually use group target (3x3 focus grid), sometimes single target and occasionally small target. On a recent trip to...
Hello All, First post EVER! I am an hobbyist who has been shooting on and off for a few years now, recently upgraded my outdated 30D for a 7D II with a 24-70mm f/4 IS. I am going to ask questions specific to the 7D and some generic! I am wishing to shoot some pictures of cyclists, individually and in groups. I gather that it would be advised to have a wide aperture such as F/8 for solo and F/16s for the big groups, perhaps even bigger? On the 7D II there are 6 various focus presets, the...
Good evening, I am beyond depressed right now. While taking pictures of my son playing Lacrosse on Saturday it started to rain. Not heavy but heavy enough my shirt was getting wet. I decided to get the 7D in my car but during the walk while under my shirt the rain got heavy. I don't recall any heavy water getting inside the camera but it was wet on the outside. I brought the camera inside my car and let it sit there while the remainder of the Lacrosse tournament finished. I remember...

I am a non-techy person so bear with me, but I cannot get the new Yongnuo flash receiver to stay lit up. The batteries are fresh, when I turn on the receiver, there is a brief light up of the LCD and then it seems to shut down. Using a 6D with the Yongnuo speelite transmitter aboard, the transmitter works with my Yongnuo flash, but I purchased a Canon 580EXII (which works with my 7D just fine) but with the receiver that is purposefully made for another flash besides Yongnuo (with the...

Hi, I've been debating things with myself lately and while I've managed to auction off most A-mount lenses whether to upgrade from the A6000 or the A7 or 7D I have has been a vague thing somewhere along the lines of need/GAS. Have: A7, A6000, MC-11 adapter, Canon 400 5,6. Deficiencies / developed needs: I prefer the IQ from FF for shallow dof shots, which make up around half of my shooting. Most of these are handheld with legacy lenses so stabilization would be a plus, though really I find...

I'm using the "Dot Tune" method to AFMA my two cameras, one is a FF 5D mkIII and the other is an APS-C 7D mkII. My question is, do you also include the x1.6 for the crop factor when calculating distance to the focusing target? Example: (85mm x 1.6) x 50= Distance --Big Chief "Run-a-muck"
