My 7D just died completely after four years of gentle use - wouldn't power on even with fresh battery. I sent it to the Factory Service folks and they wanted $560 to replace the main board. I don't remember ever having ANY electronic device of mine EVER die completely like this. What are other folks experiences with Canon reliability? I've always thought they're dead solid but this has me pretty concerned. Peter

Hi folks, My 1D MKIII is showing its age in terms of AF/Keeper rate... I was shooting the Bayern v Arsenal C.L last Wednesday and I missed a few shoots in the box as the 1D MKIII was focusing at the stands instead of the players . ISO 2500 and the noise started to bother me.. My 7D is in the bag gathering dust... 1Dx MKII is out of my budget. So I am tempted to sell the 1D MKIII & 7D and replace them with the 7D MKII. Your thoughts??

Has any one produced a Canon 7D MK 2 menu diagram so I can print out and hence get more confident with the various settings. Hope this makes sense and apology if this question has been asked before. Old timer trying to get back into photography thank you

Hi, I have a canon 7D.  Offlate, I've noticed two spots at fixed locations in photos with light backgrounds.  It occurs with all of my lenses and especially at apertures of f/22 and begins to decrease as I increase the aperture and almost disappears from f/6.3 and higher. Could this be sensor dust?  If yes, how do I get rid of them?  What would be the approximate cost of getting is cleaned professionally? Please take a look at the three sample images I've uploaded and let me know of a...

Loving my new Canon 5D Mark iv.  Just wondering if anybody knows how to do fill flash when bracketing shots in AEB.  I did this previously on my 7D, but I had Magic Lantern installed on it. I do a lot of real estate and don't want to have to take single shots and manually adjust for each exposure to get the fill flash.  Bracketing would make this sooooo much easier.  Any thoughts?  Thanks much. I will be shooting my first Christening soon and am planning to use my 7D mii with 20mm (32/33 with 1xcf) f/1.4 lens generally but for the actual baptism I want to get some closeups and some full body shots. My initial plan was to have a 50mm with 13mm extension on my 7D mii and put the 20mm on my 1000D backup camera (I know, needs updating!!) but having thought a bit about it I am not sure this is the best use. The main lenses/extensions I have to work with are 70-300mm, 50mm, 20mm lenses...

Hi, I use a Canon 7D solely with an EF 400 5.6 lens. I like this lens since it's rather portable, doesn't have a lot of CA and doesn't make a lot of noise when focusing. It's also decent to mf. As for the sensor...well, I feel that it doesn't quite compare to the raws from my A6000 (or A7), which might be natural considering when the 7D hit the market...but when I use DPreview's widget for comparing RAWs at around ISO1000 from for instance the Canon 80D and my A6000 I suddenly don't feel like...

I recently recorded several HD videos using my 7D (original). Due to the subject matter, I held my camera in the portrait mode for these videos, just as I do when shooting still shots with this camera. However, I now seem to think I shot myself in the foot by doing that. With a still photo it is a simple matter to rotate it when I pull the image into Adobe Lightroom. For some reason Lightroom won't accept these images when I try to import them, so I imported them into the Apple Photos...

I purchased the Tamron 16-300 in June of 2015, I used it on a Canon 7D. I notice that in 'Live View Mode' the lens was slow to focus, I mean like 5 or 10 seconds. At 300mm it failed to find focus at all. When using eye level view finder it worked OK but, still was slow at the long end. I traded in my 7D for a Canon 80D for the superior video functions and touch screen focus in live view. The Tamron 16-300mm not only does not focus in live view, it freezes the camera. I must remove the...
