Hi there - this is my first posting on dpreview and I'm looking for some advice on getting into flash photography. I currently have a Canon 60D with grip, 50mm 1.4, Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 and Canon 70-300 USM. My decision is whether to buy a 580 ex II or the 430 ex II. I will be shooting macro photography so will be needed some off camera flash and will also be starting to get into strobist work such as basic portrait set-up and some indoor event work which will require a flash. I understand that...

Hello.  Currently have a Canon 60D, got it kit with 18-135.  Have recently added the tamron 70-300vc for tele.  Appreciate your thoughts on adding either the Canon 50 f/1.8 and retain the 18-135 + 70-300 + Canon 580 flash, or sell the 18-135 skip the nifty-fifty and get the tamron 17-50 f/2.8 to combo with the tamron 70-300 vc + Canon 580 flash. Am just an amateur/hobbyist, most pictures are of family and trips (indoor and outdoor equally), a few wildlife once in awhile, and indoor events...

Hi folks,A few days ago, I received my PowerShot G15 which I had bought for the times when I did not want to carry my 60D with different lenses. So, today, I took the G15 for a hike and shot about 200 pictures (RAW+JPEG). Now, I look at those pictures in DPP, and: the JPEGs are being shown, but instead of the RAWs, I only see a a crossed rectangle!!I did not download the DPP version that came with the G15, because I thought this would be the same versions. Or am I wrong here? I cannot believe...

I know there have been many threads about this lens and it's front focusing issues. I have this lens and sent it to Canon to calibrate it because it was front focusing with my Canon XSi. Now, my shutter broke, so i was thinking of getting the T3i or 60D. My question is, since the lens was calibrated already for my XSi, will i have to get it calibrated again with a new body? Both of those cameras do not have the micro adjustment feature and I'd rather not have to send them back to canon again...

Hi there, this is my first post here. First of all sorry if I am posting in the wrong forums. The reason I am posting a question here is because I am interested in the Canon EOS 650D, and I am comparing heavily against 60D. I am leaning more towards the 650D. However, I really really would like to confirm which one has the better quality of the microphone without the use of an external microphone. I watched a review that compares the sound quality...

Hello all,I just got my 60D back from Canon repair. It seems they introduce new problems when "repairing" cameras.I had vertical & horizontal lines showing on the LCD when snapping photos. Now, I hear this very audible scratchy noise when in Movie Mode on my 60D. This seems to occur on my Canon 28-135mm IS lens, when I switch on Image Stabilization [IS]. But the sound goes away when I turn it off.Im not sure if this is normal or something Canon effed up during their supposed repair.I had...

Is the VC version of this lens worth the cost? Saw one that said non OC,  was this a typo? Any other lenses in this range that I should be considering? Have a 60d, and 28-135, and 85 1.8. Just sold my 20d with the kit lens, looking for a better replacement. Thanks

My wife and I are looking to upgrade our existing camera (Rebel XT). We have 5 lenses for it. I'm told all 5 would work with the 60D and 7D, but only 4 of the 5 would work with a 5D. Mostly shoot pictures of our kids and photos for my wife's business.  Shooting will be about 50% RAW and processed through Lightroom 4.  Anyone care to chime in on the direction we should go - leaning towards the 3 bodies in subject?
