Hi all.. As you can see from the subject I have had an issue after cleaning my focus screen from some dust and lints. Well once succesfully removed about 80% of debris with a blower and a Q-tip with some alcohol... I had the the unpleasant surprise that four of the bottom foucus LED had a "halo" around them, and the center LED was noticeable dimmer than others 8 (1 out of 9). The issue doesn't affect the auto focus system since pictures keep being perfectly clear. ..but the halo is quite...

Hello, I'm sorry to start with yet another question about 80d vs 6d but... here I go. I want to upgrade my 550d (that I need to fix since I kinda broke it...) and I'm looking mainly for IQ and sharpness/focus. I read many threads/reviews about the 80d, 6d and 7d mk II but there's one thing I haven't found that much and is related to the sharpness/focus of an image. I know the 80d is a more versatile camera, but based on the image comparisons I found, the 6d always have the sharpest images...

The question “How do I convert SNR differences between cameras from db to f/stops?” has been asked and answered all over the internet, but I find no resolution between 3 dB and 6 dB. For example: From the following post (http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/39692269) Conversion of SNR dB figures to stops: Question: Iliah Borg wrote: My conversion is: stops = log[base 2] (10 ^ (dB/10) ) Roughly 6dB is 1 stop in photography. ND 0.3 is 1 stop. Is this the same dB measure? Answer: From what I have...

Hello fellow photographers!  I'm still in the process of knowing more about DLSR's and Photography i have learn't the basics in terms of camera features and photography skills/conventions-rule of thirds etc... I'm currently using a Canon EOS 550d with two lens, i either use my standard EF-S 18-55mm with IS, or my not so great EF 75-300mm due to it not having IS.  All i want to know is to figure out the best option, if i upgrade my lens example to the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 USM lens or some...

Hi everybody how are you ? I spent 6 days looking on the internet a new (mirorless) camera to buy as I got my 550D + 2 lenses stolen. At first, I wanted to buy a compact camera (RX100 I) because I need something light to carry with me everyday. But the lack of freedom about interchangeable lenses make me reconsider the question. I read a bunch of comparaison websites, forum posts, discussed with friends... But it still hard to make a decision. I have around 600€ budget (but can go up to 1k€...

My Canon EFS 17-85mm f4-5.6 lens started to have occasional issues last year which became more frequent until it became unusable - basically after clicking the shutter I'd get an error on the display. I followed online advice as to the cause of the problem - most likely a broken ribbon cable and I've attempted to repair it by following videos, but seem to have made it worse since now it won't focus properly. So... I'm now looking to replace this lens but I'm on a limited budget. My camera is...

Hello All,       I have a Canon T2i with 18-135mm lens and recently bought a 50mm 1.8. Although I have a camera for past few years I have not dedicated myself to learn the art. I am starting again and want to learn.         I would mainly like to capture cityscapes, landscapes, beach when on vacation, also the night sky and of course milky waterfalls. I would like filter recommendations for these main types of photos and also overall if any?         I have been reading a lot about filters on...

Hi there, throughout high school I was shooting with the Canon t2i (550d) for pleasure and I now want to upgrade as I am taking photography more seriously and the t2i just doesn't cut it for me anymore and I am wanting to get a ff sensor I really enjoy shooting fashion and portrait photography in an outdoor and studio setting. I currently have a budget of aprox $2000 CAD and the Canon 1ds Mark iii ($1400-1700), 1d Mark iv ($1900) and 5d Mark ii ($1000) have all appealed to me within my...

Ditto for EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM vs. EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II.  I want to know what the identifying marks are, as it isn't clear to me when I look at Canon's website. Two family members have Canon kits, a T2i and a SL1, and I'm not sure which lenses they came with. Based on age alone, I'm guessing the T2i has the IIs. I'm not sure about the SL1, however. My reason for asking is that I'm thinking of getting an 80D and one of the options is as a kit with the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS...

Recently I shot a dance event using my EF 50mm f/1.4 USM on my 550D / T2i.Flickr LinkWhat this link have are keepers but some of the non included photos went OOF. and I had a very hard time getting the focus. I used AF Servo when moving and Single shot when they are sitting or staying still. I'm very clear limitation is in the system not in me in this case. I'm wondering whether I should upgrade my lens. 50mm f/1.2 is more expensive and again it has worse focusing as well. So came the sigma...
