Hey Everyone, Has anyone used this combination before (Canon 800m F/11 + 1.4x Extender)? I understand that with an extender you'd be looking at F/16 I think. Which is in diffraction territory. I currently own the lens and use it for BIF and Slow-Motion Videos (Main use is birds taking flight). Although I can use crop mode for stills, I can't use it for video (unless I'm missing something). I'm also quite used to shooting with a high ISO (12800+).  I've not used an extender before, but as I...

Hey everyone, I currently own an R8 with a RF 100 - 400mm and would eventually like to get a longer lens, as the title said I was originally looking at an 2x extender but from what I read at 400mm you would be shooting at F/16 which makes makes the RF 800mm more enticing but with that your stuck at F/11 which is a turn off.  I don't really want to spend anymore than the RF 800mm and I'm currently in the process of buying an EF adapter so I can use my Macro lens so maybe I should look at EF...

Hello Does anyone have real-life experience with the best image quality at 800mm ?. Is it the 800 f/11 or RF 100-500mm with 1,4 teleconverter at 700mm(cropped). And how does the rf 800mm compare to the RF 100-500mm with the 2x at 800mm. And perhaps the rf 800 with 1,4 at 1120 vs the 100-500 with 2x (cropped). And also auto-focus performance in the same focal lengths, on the R5.I do have the R5 and am fully aware of diffraction etc. I have seen the comparison at “The digital picture” but...

A quick tour of the user guide for the lens doesn't mention it and I can't find anything in the R5's guides about it either.  When I attach the lens, the corners of a square is centered on the screen about 3/4's the full height of the screen.  What is it trying to tell me?  The only guess I have is that is the available focusing area. --Thank you, pedz

I’m looking for a 800mm lens for birding and astrophotography on a Canon R10. I’m considering the Sigma EF 150-600 Contemporary + 1.4x extender or the Canon RF800mm F11 The canon is lighter and cheaper, but fixed focal length and fixed F11. Should be good for birding but not ideal for astrophotography (except the moon). The sigma is heavier and more expensive (with extender), but more flexible and wider aperture, even with with extender (F9). Probably slightly better for astrophotography...

I am planning to buy R7 to shoot, both photos and video, of everything non-professionally (just a hobbyist). Sharing will be digital, not printing. OOC JPEG with good connectivity to an Android phone. Based on reviews, I narrowed down to following kit 1. R7 with RF-S 18-150mm (general purpose, everyday, travel) 2. RF 100-400mm (for birds, moon, stars, etc.) 3. Canon EL-100 flash (for indoor family and friends) 4. Canon DM-E1D Stereo Mic Q1. I am not sure about buying a wide angle lens for...

I'm heading to Iceland next week and as usual I'm struggling to settle on my lens selection. Last time I visited I took my Canon 6d along with 16-35 f4, 24-104 f4 and 100-400 mk II.  I used the 16-35 for northern lights as I don't have a wide angle 2.8. 100-400 was useful for a couple of seals and some landscape and the 24-105 fits in the middle and was on my camera most of the trip.  This trip I have recently bought a Canon R6 along with the RF 70-200 2.8 and RF 800 f11. I will definitely be...

I recently dipped my toes into more serious digital photography, and picked up: EOS RP RF 24-240 F4-6.3 IS USM RF 35 F1.8 IS STM MACRO I'm using the 24-240 as a jack-of-all-trades lens, for family pictures when we're out hiking, or candids of the kids out playing, pictures of my wife baking, or taking as a one-lens solution on road trips and vacations. The 35 gets used for low-light shots, indoors after hours, around the campfire, or for street walks. So far, I've been thrilled with the...

Hello, I have rented an EOS R5 with the RF 800 F/11 lens, and I'm trying to get as close to 20 fps as I can. The best I can do is around 16 fps. Based on my research, here are my current settings. If you can think of anything else I can try, please let me know.  Thanks so much!    (p.s. first time shooting Canon). Hi all, I am currently an original 6D and 7D shooter looking to upgrade to one camera. I use the 6D for everything except wildlife and use the 7D for that with a Sigma 150-600 C. My hit rate on AF with the 7D combo for BIF has always been really low despite the focus point being on the bird most of the time.  It seems that the camera or lens cannot keep up. I was considering upgrading to the R6 to replace both of my cameras and to solve this problem, but the cost may be too much for me. I am...
