This lens is much larger than I expected, having especially a large diameter versus EF lenses. It is roughly twice the size of my non-IS EF 35mm f2 (when unadapted as it would be in my bag or pocket for example), and renders images about the same, albeit with much more resolution. It actually resolves better than my 35L (Mark 1), is quiet focusing for video, and good for macro without an adapter... however I prefer the images made with the L lens.  My old non-IS lens is smaller and lighter if ...

Canon hit a home run here. It's a must-have if you're into the RF system. For a "non-L" lens, the weight, tight tolerances and substantial feel are very welcome. The focus and function ring are snug, precise and reassuring. While not a 1:1 ratio - the macro function is useful for all-purpose photography and the performance at close, non-macro distances is fantastic and a bit of a hidden "feature" of the lens. Hi there! Here's my experience of the RF 35mm 1.8 STM Macro compared to the EF 35mm 2.0 USM. I've used both for a few weeks on an Canon R6 body and am keeping the RF lens. This is the kit-lens for my RP. So far I like it quite a lot - it is sharp already at f/1.8, only getting better when stopped down. Bokeh is nice, has a little bit of character, but so far I did not in a single shot see something that had to be described as "busy" or wishing me to re-take the shot with different aperture or focusing distance.
